Gamers are unable to connect to Roblox with the popular platform having suffered global outage causing chaos.
There has been a huge spike in cases around 3pm this afternoon. Roblox is one of the most popular online games around the world but it has crashed this afternoon, leaving thousands unable to access the game.
According to Down Detector, the problems started at around 2.30pm and are affecting players globally. There have been more than 6,000 problems reported in the United States along with more than 1,200 in the UK.
Users in the UK have had most problems with their login, which accounts for 41% of the reported problems on Down Detector, along with 39% having an issuers with servers and 20% with game play. The majority of the people in the US, 58%, have said they are suffering problems with server connections while 25% blame the website. The remaining 17% said the problem was with game play.
Many people have taken to social media to enquire whether there was a general problem with Roblox. “Is roblox down? #ROBLOX #RobloxDown or is it just me,” one user tweeted alongside a picture of their error screen,” said one person.
Another wrote: “The Playstation version started going on this screen. I press continue but it ‘loads’ then go back to this. I tried uninstalling, reset internet connection, and restart my console. Nothing worked. Please fix…”
Roblox is a free online gaming platform where users build their own virtual worlds and they can play games they have created themselves or by others. Once you sign up, you can play an infinite number of games and chat with other users while appearing as in-game ‘avatars’.
“Every day millions of people come to Roblox to create, play and connect with each other in experiences built by our global community of creators,” it states on its website.
But it has also been criticised as a dangerous place for children due to exposure to inappropriate content. And there has also been concern over people being drawn into spending more money as if users want to to upgrade their avatar or get specific upgrades, they have to spent real money on Robux, the in-game currency.
“There was an issue causing problems for players and users across the platform starting a little after 6am PDT. This was a slowly growing issue but has been caught and resolved. This message is being posted retroactively,” stated Roblox on its website. The Mirror has contacted Roblox for a comment.
