Manchester United are set to complete three deals in the closing days of the transfer window – and they could also be set to bid farewell to a £60 million signing
Ruben Amorim has given Casemiro’s Manchester United career the kiss of death after revealing he can no longer cope with the Premier League.
The former Real Madrid midfielder has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford over the past year. And his future grew even more uncertain with the arrival of Amorim. Casemiro, 32, has made just six appearances under the Portuguese head coach and he has not played a single minute in each of United’s last four league games.
And tellingly, Amorim has since revealed that the Brazilian international can no longer cope with the physical demands of the Premier League. He said: “Sometimes it’s a lot of that. It’s also a player’s moment. We understand that Casemiro has other things nowadays.
“The intelligence he has, understanding the game, understanding where the ball is going to fall but we’re in a league that I can see, even in European competitions, the difference in intensity is big. And so, I feel that this team also needs players with a very high intensity. And sometimes we don’t have that and sometimes that difference in characteristic can lead one player or another to play.”
Amorim added: “Even the fact that the group has a certain characteristic as a group. I needed some players in certain positions with a slightly different pace. But we all know the quality Casemiro has and everything he won. And so, I have nothing to say about that. It’s just a choice.”
Casemiro now seems sure to seal a move away from Old Trafford in the near future. He has just 18 months left on the lucrative deal he signed upon his arrival in 2022.

A number of clubs have emerged as potential suitors for his services. Saudi side Al-Nassr are obvious candidates for his signature after a recommendation from former United star Cristiano Ronaldo.
But it remains to be seen whether he is a priority as they aim to sign a striker – Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface and Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran linked with big-money moves to the Middle East.
Besiktas are also reportedly eyeing Casemiro, with ex-United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spearheading a potential move. Italian giants Roma are also contenders for Casemiro and reports have suggested that he has already given his approval to a switch to Serie A.
