New head coach Ruben Amorim is ready to ring the changes at Manchester United and winger Antony looks set to leave the club in January, either on loan or permanently

New Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is ready to sell Antony in the January transfer window.

Antony was a marquee £86million signing under former boss Erik ten Hag, who was keen to be reunited with the winger after working with him at Ajax. However, the Brazilian has failed to make much of an impact at Old Trafford.

In 87 games across all competitions, Antony has scored just 12 goals and provided five assists. And according to a report from the Daily Star, United are prepared to listen to offers for Antony in January.

The report states that United are keen to offload the 24-year-old and are willing to either sell him or loan him out, with Amorim keen to bring in teenage prospect Geovany Quenda from Sporting to replace him.

However, United will not sanction a move for Quenda until next summer, with Amorim a huge fan of the youngster after handing him his debut for Sporting. The report adds that Amorim believes Quenda is ‘more than capable of being a huge success at United’.

Antony, meanwhile, could benefit from a fresh start away from Manchester after falling down the pecking order this season. He has made just five appearances across all competitions so far, with Ten Hag said to have frozen him out due to his attitude in training and concerns he had become a disruptive influence.

When asked about Antony’s lack of gametime back in September, Ten Hag said: “He is fighting, fighting for his position. That’s what we expect from every player in the squad at Manchester United, what they should do.

“Of course he’s impatient. He wants to play and he’s fighting to play. That is professional football, that is top football. Those are the laws. You pick the team that you think has the most chance to win a game. The players have to fight for their positions.

“You pick the XI who have the best dynamic, the best chemistry. So he has to earn the right in training but the others are doing really well. He has to get over them. Now he has to bounce back and he has the abilities to do it. If he is doing the right thing, he can make competition with them.”
