She explained: “Many people spend a fortune on eyelash serums and treatments, but the secret to luscious lashes might be hiding in your kitchen cupboard.
“Olive or coconut oil can be incredibly beneficial for eyelash health and growth, and the best part is, it’s astonishingly affordable.”
According to current prices, a 1L bottle of olive oil is around £5.50 at Asda, which means each 0.1ml application costs just about £0.00055 – not even half a pence, reports the Daily Record.
If you treat your lashes twice a week, that’s under 5p a month, making it an absolute steal of a beauty secret.
Explaining how it worked, Saffron said: “These oils are rich in nourishing fatty acids that can work wonders for your lashes. They moisturise and condition the lashes, preventing brittleness and breakage. Additionally, they can strengthen the lash hair shaft and protect against environmental damage.”
Eager to help those keen to try out this affordable beauty trick, Saffron went on to detail how it’s done.
First, make sure your face is clean and all eye makeup is removed first.
Next, using a fresh mascara brush or cotton swab, put a little of your chosen oil on it. Carefully apply the oil to your eyelashes from the bottom up, taking care not to let any get into your eyes.
Allow the oil to work its magic whilst you sleep, and wash it off come morning. For anyone looking to make the most of this regime, Saffron advised doing it two to three times weekly.
“Consistency is key,” she added. “Give it at least four to eight weeks to see noticeable improvements. Remember, everyone’s lashes are different, so results may vary.”
