Lose You To Love Me hitmaker Selena Gomez, 32, has been open about her health issues in recent months and declared she’s not ashamed of the things she’s been forced to confront

Singing sensation Selena Gomez has opened up about her personal struggles, boldly claiming she’s not ashamed of them.

At a poignant Women in Film event with her sister Gracie, the 32 year old celebrity spoke candidly about fertility challenges and mental health, revealing adoption plans before her romance with music producer Benny Blanco began in 2023.

She delivered a fierce message while at the gathering: “I truly believe that there is power in being vulnerable and telling people when you need help, when you want help.” Her defiance was clear as she stated: “That is not shameful. So yeah, I shared that I can’t carry a child. Yeah, I shared I have bipolar f*** off. That’s what my life is like.”

Selena expressed her desire to be an advocate for women, explaining that sharing her pain is part of her advocacy. Emphasising the importance of authenticity, she declared: “That’s why I like to be honest because everybody’s going through something.” Gomez continued, reflecting on her own imperfections: “I don’t have it all together. I’m me. And that’s all I can be.”

With empowering words, the actress urged: “So do not ever let anyone tell you that you are not a good person, that you aren’t kind, that you won’t treat people with respect.” In a passionate endorsement of self-worth, Selena added: “‘Cause that is not lame, that is so cool of you guys. And that is the fact. So, screw anyone who tells you you’re a victim. You’re a survivor in my book.”

Selena opened up in Vanity Fair’s October issue about her heartache regarding motherhood, disclosing: “I haven’t ever said this… but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children.” She delved into the medical risks involved by stating, “I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy… that was something I had to grieve for a while.” Her health struggles aren’t new to the public sphere as the actress has been vocal about her battles with lupus complications and shared her bipolar diagnosis back in April 2020.

The US star is currently in a relationship with music producer Benny Blanco, who she collaborated with on the 2015 hit Same Old Love and the 2019 track I Can’t Get Enough featuring Tainy and J Balvin. Discussing their romance, she said: “I’ve never been loved this way. He’s just been a light. A complete light in my life. He’s my best friend. I love telling him everything.”

Selena said having a family is important to her, but that she is not putting pressure on their relationship. “We always make sure we’re protecting what we have, but there’s no rules”, she added. “I want him to always be himself. I always want to be myself.” She also confirmed that she does not plan to change her name if she were to marry, saying: “I am Selena Gomez. That’s it.”
