Connor Swindells and Amber Anderson have tied the knot in a sweet Scottish wedding ceremony with a special guest officiating the proceedings
Actor Connor Swindells has tied the knot with Amber Anderson in a stunning Highlands wedding.
The stars, who initially met on the set of Autumn De Wilde’s Emma, exchanged vows in a ceremony officiated by Swindells’ Sex Education co-star Alistair Petrie. In the hit sitcom, Petrie plays the role of Swindell’s dad.
The celebration was shared on British Vogue’s Instagram account, with a string of photos from the special occasion. In them, Anderson looked stunning in an elegant Vivienne Westwood dress and veil. Swindells scrubbed up well in a navy two-piece suit with a tartan tie to match the location. In another image Anderson is seen fist bumping the air while his new wife grins at him. Petrie is seen in the background with his script while wearing a traditional kilt which matched Swindells’ tie. Another showcased the specific details Anderson included for the big day, including having their first initials on her thumb nails.
The newlyweds also appeared to have gone for a dip in the last image. Swindells was in a fleeced jacket, while a smiling Anderson had a towel wrapped around her as they stood by the river edge. Emma director Autumn de Wilde also gave an emotional speech at the wedding reception.
In the caption for the sweet upload, British Vogue wrote explained the pair’s journey to marriage: “Starting out as friends before falling in love is a classic Hollywood trope, so it’s perhaps fitting that actors #AmberAnderson and #ConnorSwindells followed the same route to romance,” the statement began.
“The couple had stayed in touch after meeting on the set of @AutumnDeWilde’s #Emma, but it was bubbling together during lockdown that made them see one another in a new light.” The caption went on to state Petrie’s part in the joyous occasion before saying the was a traditional ceilidh that closed out the night.
Fans were quick to praise the couple and send congratulatory messages in the comments section. One user gushed: “OMG Jane Fairfax & Robert Martin, this is the true romance!!! Congratulations,” while another stunned user said: “Not his on-screen dad officiating the ceremony,” followed by a crying face emoji.
A third said: “Adam and his dad on his wedding day. omg this is the BEST,” with a fourth adding: “So classy! Absolutely loving the photography actually matching the clothing aesthetics.” Swindells revealed to Vogue that he proposed to his now wife while they were on a group trip to Botswana. He explained how he got down on one knee by a 1,400-year-old baobab tree while they were on a safari.
“We rounded the corner, and there stood a beautiful baobab,” he gushed. “I knew the rest was up to me. She said yes.”
