Shakira danced along to her new single Soltera at an event over the weekend and footage of the singer’s performance in Miami has since attracted attention on social media

There was concern for Shakira after she unexpectedly left the stage during a performance at LIV Miami over the weekend, but it’s since been stated that it was “no big deal”.

The singer-songwriter, 47, danced along to her new single Soltera at the venue in Miami on Saturday. She was there alongside the likes of Winnie Harlow and Anitta, with Shakira said to have been filming the music video for the track.

Footage from the event, which has gone viral on social media, shows Shakira dancing on a platform in front of the DJ booth. She’s seen pulling her dress down during the performance and at one point appears to shake her fingers at a member of the audience, and then points to her eye.

She then places her hands over the front and back of the dress. She resumes dancing but moments later looks in the same direction, pulls her dress down again and abruptly leaves the stage. Sitting on the edge of it, Shakira is seen looking back at the audience before jumping into the booth.

There have been claims that someone appeared to try to film up her dress during the performance. Metro however reports that she looked in good spirits as she interacted with her off-stage team after leaving the stage though and that amid fans’ concerns, a source said that the situation wasn’t as ‘dramatic’ as the video appeared. The source said: “It wasn’t like that – she just realised she shouldn’t stand there and so moved – no big deal – she had an amazing day and so much fun with the video.”

The source’s comment comes following the reaction from fans, with some having expressed concern that Shakira paused the performance seemingly due to an audience member attempting to film up her dress. One person tweeted amid the speculation: “People are gross.” Someone else said: “That’s truly disappointing behavior. Artists deserve respect and privacy, both on and off stage.” A third fan tweeted: “That’s incredibly invasive and disrespectful. Everyone deserves to perform and express themselves without facing such violations of privacy.”

Other viewers had instead suggested that the footage doesn’t show anyone attempting to film under her dress, with there having also been speculation of a misunderstanding. One person tweeted: “There were just a whole bunch of people filming her. Maybe she realized they were below her so … . Doesn’t mean they were actually trying to film under her dress.” Someone else speculated: “If anything, she’s asking if you can see up her dress from where she is, someone says yes, so she gets down.”

The Mirror has approached Shakira’s rep for comment.
