Flying with Ryanair is about to come with more rules and restrictions as the airline announces a new 2025 boarding rule that’ll change the way many passengers fly. This simple £20 gadget will help travellers avoid the hefty fine.

As of May 2025 Ryanair is going paperless, which means travellers will only be allowed to use digital boarding passes, gone are the days of a printed pass. If you forget to download your ticket to your device, or you phone runs out of juice, you’ll face an extra fee.

Currently it charges £66 for forgetting a printed pass, each way, but soon a physical ticket will no longer be an option. Switching a budget ticket into a pricey trip away, putting portable chargers on the list for many – this £17.99 from Amazon is another affordable option.
The lightweight £24.99 powerbank has a sturdy level of power considering its price. It comes with an integrated USB-C to plug straight into a mobile and then another USBC port to plug into a second device – be it a tablet or even laptop.
We’ve not tried this specific model out for ourselves but looking across shopper reviews it’s been rated full-five stars from users for its efficient speedy charging. Calling it reliable and lightweight one person said: “It’s nice, compact, and durable. It charges at a steady pace and is very convenient for on-the-go travel.
“My coworker has an iPhone 16 and it works perfectly for the newer model. Might have to purchase an extra cable to charge the device itself but that’s alright.”
Another shopper said: “This charger is a lifesaver! The power went out due to heavy storms and this battery was able to keep my phone and even my laptop up and running.” However, a few users did say it wasn’t quite high enough for them. “It’s only 10kWh, little to low for me”, said one shopper.
Speaking about the decision, Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary said: “We’re phasing out check-in desks, just as we’ve already streamlined luggage counters. Everything will be done digitally through the app.”
