WARNING – DISTRESSING CONTENT: Vladislav Kharlashin has been sentenced to life in a Russian jail for drugging and raping a nine-year-old girl – and he won’t be able to escape his sentence by volunteering to fight in Ukraine

A twisted paedophile has been jailed for life in Russia after drugging and raping a nine-year-old girl.

Vladislav Kharlashin, 47, will not be allowed to escape his sentence by volunteering to fight in Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine. His life sentence comes under new Russian laws, and Kharlashin is the first to receive one for paedophilia in the Krasnoyarsk region. Kharlashin’s victim allowed him into her flat after he pleaded for a drink of water. He slammed the door shut and injected her three times with an unknown drug before raping her.

The Krasnoyarsk prosecutors office said: “He took advantage of the girl’s helpless state, abused her, and filmed the crime with his phone’s camera. At some point, the girl’s mother called, and Kharlashin, wanting to cover up the crime, put a knife to the victim’s body and threatened to kill her if she told her about what happened.”

Kharlashin had been released from jail despite previous convictions for sex crimes in 2008 and robbery in 2019. This time he was convicted of breaking into the girl’s home, committing paedophile sex acts, drug trafficking, producing child sex images and threatening to kill the child. The girl suffered “serious harm to her health” as a result of the traumatic attack.

A disturbing video shows the monster grinning before his arrest. And after he was sentenced to life, his girlfriend Ekaterina spoke out against the verdict. She said: “[He] basically didn’t [kill] anyone. Everyone is alive and well […] Maybe the child suffered psychological trauma. Maybe they’ll work with her, if the mother is adequate, I hope so.

“I’m also still very worried. It’s also very hard for me to live this year. I think about all sorts of things, all sorts of thoughts come into my head. But people don’t get life sentences for murder, and they’re going to give it to him.” Thousands of Russian prisoners including murderers and rapists have been released to fight in Ukraine. Kharlashin will not be afforded the opportunity of such a pardon.
