Sky has announced a huge January sale with discounts on TV, broadband, and mobile packages – but there is a catch you’ll want to look out for
Streaming deals are flying high this early New Year, as Virgin Media’s Winter sale continues and DisneyPlus still offers its tempting two-month free deal another provider has launched a sale this January. And we think it’s worth taking a look.
Sky has cut its prices for shoppers this January with as much as £120 cut off TV shoppers bills, broadband discounts and a huge saving for mobile users. But it all depends on the plan you pick.
Its Full Fibre 150Mbps broadband plan has been reduced to a new £27 per month price, a £48 saving as it drops from the usual £29 monthly rate. While mobile shoppers can get six-months half price data on its SIM-only deals but those waiting for a big price drop on its swanky Sky Stream TV plan will have to wait.

The provider has confirmed a huge £120 saving on its Sky TV, Netflix, Sky Stream and Full Fibre 150 Broadband bundle as the price drops to a new £35 rate, but unlike the other two deals – that are ready to buy here – this will only be available to buy from January 7th. Leaving TV fans itching to get the upgrade….potentially.
Dropping £5 off the monthly rate – £120 in total. It comes with no pesky satellite hook ups, this box can plug into any TV (as long as you have an HDMI port) transforming standard TVs into a smart-like set-up thanks to the Sky Stream box.
It delivers terrestrial channels over the internet, eliminating the need for a roof aerial; all you need is reliable Wi-Fi at home – hence why the £120 cheaper bundle comes with its Full Fibre 150 Mbps plan, but you can use it with any provider and plan as long as the speeds are decent.
This package includes Sky’s Essential TV, featuring channels like Sky Atlantic – the home of popular shows such as Euphoria, House of the Dragon, and Succession. Netflix is also part of the deal as a Standard with Ads plan is thrown into the price.
One Trustpilot reviewer who switched from rival Virgin Media called the Sky Stream set a ‘fantastic piece of kit’, explaining: “Been with Virgin Media for TV, broadband and Virgin Media O2 mobiles, left due to customer service. Sky Stream is fantastic.”
Customers are raving about the ease of setting up their new UHD 4K devices, with one saying: “Really easy to set up, fantastic picture and sound in UHD 4K. I have 3 x connected to the Internet via ethernet cables and 1 x via WiFi…(soon to be etherneted up). All work great. So easy to set up and use after receiving in the post. Particularly voice control.”
Another shared details about their broadband speed for optimal performance: “We are running our sky puck on our Sky super fast broadband connection 61 mbs. By no means the quickest connection these days but more than enough for Sky Stream.”
Meanwhile, a third customer initially had doubts but was ultimately impressed: “Initially I was not impressed, and about to return it. I then connected it to a brand new LG OLED in my office and was blown away. You need very good internet speed, otherwise you will be disappointed.”
They also noted the superior quality and user interface: “UHD picture quality is very good and the UI very slick. My Sky Q was starting to show its age and I lost satellite signal owing to tree leaves during the summer.”
However, not all feedback has been positive, as some users experience technical difficulties: “We’ve had sky stream for about 4 months now and despite starting well, it’s now really lost its shine. We have two pucks. One seems fine, the other is constantly buffering, stuttering, and loading sync”, a frustrated customer reported.
Sky shoppers can bag up to £120 in savings this New Year, but Virgin Media is hot on their heels with a rival deal. They’ve slashed a whopping £504 off their Biggest Combo TV and broadband plan, bringing it down to just £69 a month from the usual £97.
