Flicking through your favourite TV shows just got a lot easier thanks to a new feature from Sky TV, which allows customers to watch programmes by using an iconic tag line

Make the most out of your Sky TV with this little-known remote hack.

The tech giant has recently conducted a nationwide study to find out the most ‘enduring and well-loved phrases from British TV’, and has added some of these iconic taglines to its Sky voice control. So, the next time you want to binge back-to-back episodes of Only Fools and Horses, there’s no need to spend an age typing in the title on the search bar, simply say Lovely Jubbly! into your Sky Glass or Sky Stream remote to watch Del Boy and Rodney hustling on the streets of Peckham.

More than a dozen phrases that you will undoubtedly already know about have been added to the feature, from the classic ‘We were on a break’ from Friends to Eastenders’ Peggy Mitchell’s legendary ‘Get out of my pub’.

Ben Case, Managing Director for Sky TV, said telly makes up a “big part part of our cultural identity” – with many conic lines from shows and films making their way into our vernacular. He added: “85 per cent of us say we’ve used a quote from a TV show in conversation, demonstrating the real power of TV in shaping the zeitgeist.”

“We’re celebrating this by adding some of the most iconic phrases to our Sky TV voice control glossary, so viewers can find the shows they’re from in a new, fun way,” he said. Sky’s study also found Brits spend almost four and a half hours watching TV every day, with Drama coming out at the most popular genre (62 per cent), followed by comedy (54 per cent) thriller (48 per cent) and documentaries (46 per cent). Two thirds agreed that some TV shows stand the test of time no matter when they were made, with almost half (48 per cent) admitting they have loved a show so much that they have rewatched it multiple times – an average of nine times
