Wannabe witches can shop to their heart’s content on Etsy, with spells, magical ingredients and a whole host of witchy paraphernalia to be found online

Witchcraft has taken off on Etsy, which sells all manner of spooky items – including this set of witch’s bells for £8

Think of a witch and you might conjure an image of someone in a pointy hat with a broom and a black cat. But witchcraft has had a rebrand.

Forget cauldrons and mystical potions in jars: you can now buy spells – and a whole coven of witchy paraphernalia – online.

From charms claiming to help with a work promotion or bring a cash windfall to finding true love and even ensuring good wedding day weather, the marketplace platform Etsy is awash with all things magical.

It even has its own community of ‘Etsy witches’ there to provide enchantment advice – for a price.

So for just £8.20 – there’s 40% off at the moment – a ‘powerful career protection’ spell is on offer claiming to help with job security and promising a ‘magical shield’ around your professional life.

It’s cast by a seller known as MoonstoneMysticMagic – they’ll do the magic while you get a personal message detailing how your spell was performed plus a digital guide on how to ‘stay aligned and supported’ afterwards.

Unsurprisingly, there’s no return policy.

Meanwhile, there’s a Blessing Ritual on offer from Pendragon Spells containing all the instructions you need for next-level wellness.

The sale of spells is forbidden on Etsy so customers buy a spell ‘kit’. It’s £7.99 for a PDF file with all the information you need. The online page does warn products sold are ‘solely for entertainment purposes’ though.

A soulmate needed? Then the Attract New Love spell might be for you for just £7.55 while the Dream Home Spell promises to help you manifest your ideal des res for a bargain £8.20.

It’s not just spells on offer on Etsy, though..

The site, founded in 2005 and which now hosts millions of active sellers and buyers across 200 countries, contains all the witchy supplies a would-be Elphaba needs.

Hand forged witches engraving nails are up for grabs for £1 each – perfect for warding off evil spirits and traditionally buried under doorsteps to protect a home.

If it’s protection against negativity you’re after then you may want to invest in a 10ml bottle of Oyster Shell Powder for £5 or a set of witch bells for £8 – they were placed in doorways to ward off bad spirits.

And if love’s on your mind? There are bags of red salt on sale for £3.99 blended, says the blurb, using rose and hibiscus during the full moon. Whether you sprinkle on chips or incorporate into a spell isn’t clear.

Every would-be witch needs a cauldron and you can bag one for as little as £15 while £20 gets you a ‘build your own’ broom complete with feathers, ribbons and charms.

And for those who really want to explore the dark side there are even Ouija boards on sale, some for less than a fiver – ideal if you want to stand a ghost of a chance of contacting spirits this Hallowe’en.
