Professional dancer Amy Dowden has revealed she ‘feels like Amy again’ following her Strictly Come Dancing set back as she was forced out of the show due to an injury

Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden has admitted she “feels like herself again” after being forced out of the series.

The professional dancer was paired up with JLS singer JB Gill on the latest series of the BBC dance competition. However, halfway through the show Amy suffered a broken bone in her foot that forced her to no longer be able to dance on the show. Fellow professional Lauren Oakley took her place and reached the final with JB.

Thankfully, Amy has made a full recovery and is joining JB and Lauren on the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour across the UK. As 2024 came to an end, Amy devastatingly admitted to feeling “robbed of the year” and “didn’t feel the slightest bit like Amy”. Speaking to the Mirror as to how she is doing now, Amy told us: “I feel like Amy again.

“2025, my energy levels are different and I’m super excited to be back on tour and to be able to dance with JB again. Our journey was cut so unexpectedly short and also to be part of a team. The first trio on tour. What a way to start 2025.” Amy, JB and Lauren will make Strictly history by being the first trio.

JB said: “Listen I always like breaking records and setting records. It’s amazing. The reality of it is that I get to dance with two incredible dancers. Two incredible women. I had the pleasure of dancing with them both of course throughout the competition and to be able to come back and do it on tour. Perform the dances we absolutely loved throughout the show it’s just amazing.”

Revealing how it will work on stage, JB told us: “In act one I do a dance with Amy then in act two I do a dance with Lauren. We do actually dance together though the group dances but you will have to wait and see that.” Amy has been open with her fans about her health as she told her followers: “New Year’s Eve can be hard for some. I know too well.

“Last year struggling seeing everyone’s memories of the past year when I felt I’d been robbed of the year, was going into uncertainty and didn’t feel the slightest bit like Amy. Please don’t feel alone, reach out to a loved one or there’s many helplines (which I’ll share on my next story). Remember you never truly know what someone is going through. I’m sending all my Welsh love to those who need it entering 2025. And I’ll forever keep saying this too shall pass. Don’t get bitter get better and remember to check yourself.”

Amy made her return to Strictly in September came following a devastating few years for her health. She had a breast cancer diagnosis in May of 2023 and her continued battle with Crohn’s. In February last year, the Strictly pro revealed her health check showed “no evidence of disease”, describing the news from doctors as “words I dreamed of” and her “biggest accomplishment yet”.

Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour opens in Birmingham on Friday 17th January for the first night of 30 shows across the UK
