Strictly Come Dancing star Karen Hauer has teased her BBC co-star Gorka Marquez as they prepare for their brand new tour which kicks off next year

Karen Hauer is the one in control when it comes to her working relationship with Gorka Marquez.

The Strictly Come Dancing stars have been colleagues for years on the BBC show and will be setting off on their Speakeasy tour next February. In a recent interview, the ballroom and latin dancers opened up on their professional partnership.

Karen cheekily branded her friend and colleague “naughty” after the pair were asked who takes control in their working relationship. “He’s naughty. He’s the naughty one,” Karen quipped as Gorka added: “Yeah, she’s the one that goes, ‘Gorka, stop now’.

The Strictly star joked that she keeps Gorka “the look” when she feels her friend is about to do something “naughty”. “I’m the funny guy,” Gorka continued.

“I’m the guy who will embarrass my daughter [Mia] at her 18th birthday party doing the daddy dance in the crowd.” BBC bosses recently confirmed Karen and Gorka will be heading back to the Strictly studios for the new series, which will air this autumn.

It’s not yet known whether the two dancers will be given a celebrity partner and the showbiz line-up of famous faces ready to tackle the dance-floor has yet to be confirmed. Gorka will likely be ready than ever to take on the judges comments after taking on the role of a judge on the Spanish Dancing with the Stars.

Speaking about the role earlier this year, he said: “I really like it, it’s fun. Obviously, I’m used to being on the other side and the one being judged, but I think because I’ve been on that side – it’s like when Anton judges Strictly, he understands the process and the amount of emotions, work and everything that goes around each dance.

“So, it’s very good for me to them feedback and be constructive and help them to keep working so they improve because I know how it feels. But I miss dancing, so I enjoy that more at the moment; helping someone to learn to dance, teaching a routine. It’s more rewarding than just sitting there and judging someone so I want to keep dancing. It’s really helped me understand even more…”

Last month, the BBC also confirmed the return of hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. Head judge Shirley Ballas will be back alongside judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.

Amy Dowden will make a spectacular return to the Strictly dance floor with Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Graziano Di Prima and Katya Jones. Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Luba Mushtuk, Jowita Przystal and Johannes Radebe will also return.

Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola complete the line-up while Giovanni Pernice will be absent from the series.
