Katya Jones and Wynne Evans were all smiles as they attended rehearsals for this weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing after the pair found themselves surrounded by drama
Wynne Evans and Katya Jones have brushed off the ongoing Strictly Come Dancing drama.
The pair found themselves at the centre of controversy after viewers claimed that Wynne had groped Katya while on camera. The pair have since denied this and insisted that the moment was an “inside joke” which had sadly backfired. Welsh opera singer Wynne, 52, controversially placed his hand on the waist of professional dance partner Katya Jones, 35, before seeming to move it closer to her stomach. In the incident a stony face Katya appeared to brush away his hand as the pair stood side by side.
Following an appearance on the Strictly spin-off, It Takes Two, during which they addressed the drama, it appeared that they were happier than ever. as they arrived at a rehearsal. Wynne was seen wearing a stand-out shirt and a pair of jeans as he flashed a smile while laughing his head off.
Meanwhile, Katya looked sensational as she donned an over-sized white coat, covering up a red dress as she braved the chilly temperatures. During their appearance on It Takes Two, hosted by Fleur East, Katya said she “can’t bear” how Wynne has been portrayed on social media. She insisted that he has been “portrayed as someone he is not,” adding that the social media claims couldn’t be further from the truth.
The Russian dancer dismissed suggestions she was made to feel “uncomfortable or offended”, describing claims as “total nonsense”. “Quite frankly I can’t bear sitting here watching this man being portrayed as someone he is not.” She added to Fleur: “And in fact it couldn’t be further away from the truth so I have to make this absolutely clear, that this whole incident with the hand and the high five on Saturday night, it was an inside joke between Wynne and I. Was it a silly joke? Yes. Was it a bad joke? Yes.”
Wynne confirmed that he had watched the moment back and he “could see how people may have misinterpreted it”. Meanwhile, Katya shut down claims that she had been made to feel “uncomfortable or offended in any way,” saying: “Those that have doubts, you guys have got it wrong. Hopefully this will be the end of it. He just keep making me smile please.”
It’s since been claimed that the pair were hauled into a meeting with BBC bosses who issued an “informal rap over the knuckles,” following the drama. A source claimed to the Sun: “Strictly wanted to draw a line under one of the most troubling periods in the programme’s history, which had viewers deeply suspicious about what went on behind the scenes of the show.”
The source went on to claim that such allegations had taken some shine off the contest and they were keen to draw a line under the most recent incident. The source continued: “The rap over the knuckles from Strictly was informal and there aren’t any plans to take any further action against them. But ultimately, amid all the controversy, viewers are left not knowing quite what to think.”
