Leanne Neiland, who spends her time teaching people how to clean and organise their homes, says she is able to quickly get rid of annoying, tough marks off her clothes in seconds

A woman’s simple yet “awesome” tip for cleaning those stubborn clothing stains has been earning applause.

Isn’t it just the worst when you’re ready to rock your favourite outfit and you find there’s an unsightly stain staring back at you? Whether it’s food that missed your mouth, makeup that decided to hug your top instead of your face, or just plain old dirt, these marks can be a real headache, especially with delicate fabrics or light colours.

Even though the shelves are lined with fancy products designed to remove stains, we all know washing tabs are already expensive, so having to fork out more cash on cleaning products is frustrating. Thankfully, a home hacks expert has revealed a straightforward method to eliminate stains using items you probably already have in your house.

Leanne Neiland, who dedicates her time to instructing others on how to clean and organise their homes, claims she can remove makeup stains and sweat marks from her clothes in mere seconds.

The influencer, who shares her tips on her Instagram page @home.with.leane, said she uses hairspray to get banish stains left behind from lipstick or face makeup. She explained: “Hairspray can help remove makeup stains from clothing due to its solvent properties – ethanol, acetone, or glycerin – and ability to break down oils.”

The cleaning guru also advises pouring lemon juice onto your t-shirts or sports gear to get rid of “pesky yellowish” stains left behind from sweat. Leanne added: “Lemon juice can help remove pit stains due to its acidity.

“This acidity helps break down and dissolve the alkaline compounds that cause pit stains.” Leanne noted that lemon juice should be used on white clothing, and not colours.

After spraying the clothing items with hairspray or lemon juice, Leanne says to leave it to soak for around an hour. She then puts the clothes straight into the washing machine and throws it on a regular cycle. The clothes come out looking brand new.

A number of people rushed to comment on the video hack, with many confirming that it works. “Wow, this is a lifesaver,” said one individual. “This is awesome,” added another.
