The skincare brand is loved for its budget and skin-loving formulas and its new ectoin infused serum is already a hit

The Inkey List is loved by skincare buffs for its transformative yet affordable serums, cleansers and oils – and the brand has just launched an impressive new serum. Promising to ‘deeply hydrate and strengthen the skin’s barrier in 15 minutes’, the Ectoin Hydro-Barrier Serum comes in at just £15.

With a dual-action formula, the serum promises to improve the look of skin that is suffering from dryness, flakiness, dullness, redness, and slackness by providing hydration up to 10 surface layers deep. With the ‘hero’ ingredient being ectoin – an amino acid derivative that helps protect against environmental stressors like UV light and pollution – this serum does its best to leave skin glowing.

The serum also includes multi-molecular hyaluronic acid as well as a 1% barrier blend helps to restore the protective skin barrier from the outside in.

With a milky, lightweight texture, the product is said to sink ‘effortlessly’ into the skin and provides a ‘non-tacky’ finish, making it ideal to use under make-up. Despite having just launched, the serum has already received a plethora of compliments from The Inkey List fans, with many praising how it’s suitable for all skin types.

One shopper raved: “Another great skincare product from Inkey List; highly hydrating, barrier strengthening and affordable serum to easily add into the daily routine. I like the texture which is light and fast absorbing without any sticky or greasy residue. I felt my skin is being more resilient and stronger after a week of use. I recommend getting it and giving it a go!”

Another added how it was the ‘only serum you need’ and said: “The hydration serum is the only serum you need! It’s super easily absorbed and doesn’t have a sticky feel to it. Skin feels smoother and more plump with continued use and my skin feels healthier and more glowy!”

A third echoed the joy and said: “Since I started using it, my skin feels incredibly hydrated and looks more radiant than ever. It absorbs effortlessly, ensuring optimal hydration without any greasy residue. Overall, I’m truly impressed, and the sleek pump dispenser fits perfectly with my aesthetic—it’s a game-changer.”

Although for the most part the comments were positive, one shopper didn’t really notice much of a difference in their skin after two weeks and said: “I was hoping I’d notice a difference after using this product, as I do struggle with my skin barrier, however after 2 weeks of consistent use I’ve not noticed any discernible difference to my skin.”

While they remarked: “The serum does dissolve into skin easily and there’s no reside or stickiness which I appreciate, they added: “There is a slight chemical smell but it isn’t overpowering,” and continued: “The product is a good consistency and the packaging makes it easy to dispense the product, and only a small amount is needed. Along with the low price point, this makes it a good value option.

“Overall, I do want this product to work but i’m yet to see signs of it so far. I do plan to keep using it, as sometimes products need a bit longer, especially to repair damaged skin.”

Another disgruntled Inkey List fan shared in this experience and said: “I used a pea sized amount as suggested in the instructions but this is definitely not enough for hydration. I think a lot more is required. I am slightly disappointed which is rare because I’m a fan of Inkey List but this product just didn’t do it for me. The good thing is though it absorbs nicely.”

Contrasting this, however, the serum was found to be transformative for some with one shopper gushing: “I’ve been using it for just 5 days, and my skin already feels so smooth and soft. I had some irritation before, but it calmed down so quickly after using this It’s lightweight, absorbs quickly, and doesn’t leave any greasy feeling behind. My skin feels hydrated and soothed, and I’ve already noticed a difference in texture.”

The new Ectoin Hydro-Barrier Serum is £15 at The Inkey List as well as Boots here.
