Jake Brown, winner of The Traitors, formed a close bond with a female colleague, with his wife Shannon confronted him over the friendship

The Traitors winner Jake Brown was confronted by his wife after he developed a close friendship with a female colleague.

Jake Brown, a 28-year-old project manager from Barrow-in-Furness, participated in the third series of the The Traitors, which aired in January 2025. The TV star went on to win the show alongside contestant Leanne Quigley. A few months before his stint on The Traitors, Jake formed a connection with a colleague at an office party, just two months after marrying Shannon on September 15, 2023.

Over the next five months, the colleagues grew close, offering each other support during personal struggles. However, Jake’s wife, Shannon, became suspicious and insisted he end the friendship.

A source told The Sun: “They were going through a rocky patch. He was so apologetic. She wasn’t happy, she was upset and confronted Jake. She told him it had to stop.” About Jake and the colleague, the source added: “They confided in each other. They’d meet up and lean on each other for comfort and support. But the longer it went on, Shannon grew suspicious of the friendship.”

Shannon’s suspicions led Jake to end the friendship, assuring her that nothing romantic had occurred. Jake, who has cerebral palsy, won a hefty sum of money The Traitors and plans to use the prize money for a holiday with Shannon. He also aims to use his public profile to raise awareness about cerebral palsy.

A close friend of Jake said: “It was a friendship built on mutual support of each other during a rocky time in their relationships. However, this is well and truly behind them,” whilst a spokesperson for Jake added: “Jake’s marriage is the most important thing to him. He and Shannon have been together ten years and are very happy.”

This follows the revelation that both winners, Leanne and Jake, needed support and therapy to help them keep the show’s secrets for months. The pair, both Faithfuls, were crowned winners just over two weeks ago. However, before the finale aired, they had to keep their experience and the final result a secret.

The BBC show was filmed in the spring, so there were many months when they could not reveal any details of their time in the Traitors castle. Speaking to The Sunday Times, Leanne and Jake admitted that they required help from the show’s welfare team and therapy to ensure the secrets were not let out of the bag.

Speaking about the past months, Jake said: “It was filmed back in the springtime so it’s been a long time to keep it quiet. It’s been really difficult. I mean, I was paranoid in my head because before the show even came on, I kept thinking people were looking at me, but obviously at that point no one knew who I was.”

Such was the secrecy surrounding the filming, Jake even kept his involvement in the show away from his wife Shannon, before revealing to her that he had been filming the BBC hit show.
