Kylie Jenner’s sisters publicly chatted to Timothée Chalamet at the Vanity Fair afterparty for the first time, softening the blow of his loss at the Academy Awards 2025
Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner confirmed they’re more than a fling as they socialised with the wider Kardashian-Jenner crew at the Oscars.
Timothée was nominated for Best Actor for his role as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, and walked the red carpet with his mum, Nicole Flender. Inside the venue, however, he quickly latched onto Kylie, and was seen chatting and joking around with her family at the Vanity Fair afterparty as others mingled around them.
The actor turned up at the Academy Awards in a daffodil yellow Givenchy suit, before changing into black silk for the party. Kylie, meanwhile, switched from a black sequined Miu Miu gown into a more revealing lacy corset dress.
The couple seemed inseparable at the party, with Timothée rarely removing his hand from his girlfriend’s waist. Inside, they caught up with Kylie’s sister Kendall Jenner, who showed off her model figure in a black lace vintage Mugler gown. Kim Kardashian also shared a chat with Timothée, while sporting a white off-the-shoulder Balenciaga haute couture dress.
According to body language expert Judi James, Timothée’s body language “changed dramatically” as soon as he had Kylie in his arms. Judi told The Mirror: “Kylie’s non-verbal influence with Timothée often appears to be quite maternal, looking lovingly supportive and encouraging while he can seem like a shy teen.”
She explained that he started off “unsmiling and with his hands clasped behind his back like a schoolmaster showing off his edgier side”. However, Judi noted: “As he joined Kylie though his signals swung more to someone soppy with a crush. She stands upright and smiling here and it’s him leaning in and taking her hand with what looks like an expression of relief and delight.”
Judi added that Kylie took on a “proud and fiercely protective mom mode” with her boyfriend as they sat at the awards ceremony, “clutching his right hand in both of hers and pulling it onto her lap to signal reassurance and ownership”.
Timothée and Kylie have been together for a couple of years now, having reportedly crossed paths for the first time at a Paris Fashion Week event in January 2023. The pair was first seen publicly shortly after, sparking rumours about a potential romance. Their first major public sighting came in September 2023 when they were spotted kissing at a Beyoncé concert, and their joint public appearances at exclusive events have only become more common since then.
An insider told Entertainment Tonight that Kylie is very proud of Timothée’s success and makes a point of being there to support him. Similarly, Timothée is said to appreciate how committed Kylie is to her family and her work.
The source said: “Kylie and Timothée have been doing really well. Even though Kylie has so many of her own commitments, she is very proud of Timothée and wants to be there for him and support him. Timothée is equally supportive of Kylie and admires her strong work ethic and how committed she is as a mom.”
