Soap stars Ryan Thomas and Tina O’Brien are parents to 16-year-old daughter Scarlett who they welcomed during their six-year romance that came to a dramatic end in 2009
Ryan Thomas proudly joined his daughter to help her celebrate her sixteenth birthday – but the teenager’s Coronation Street star mum was seemingly absent.
Soap star Ryan, 40, played Jason Grimshaw on Corrie from 2000 until 2016 and fell for co-star Tina O’Brien, 41 – who has played Sarah-Louise Platt since 1999. The couple enjoyed a romance that lasted from 2003 until 2009, welcoming their daughter, Scarlett in 2008.
On Thursday, Scarlett enjoyed a lavish party in Manchester – with dad Ryan nervously watching from the sidelines after seemingly being ordered not to cramp his teenager’s style. He shared videos from the event via Instagram Stories, with a caption stating: “Quick sneaky look at the party then dads got to keep out the way.”
Talking to camera, he added: “Scarlett’s party. Red carpet… Any other dads have anxiety watching their daughter at a 16th birthday party? No, they’re not allowed to come inside. I’m keeping an eye on what’s going on. There’s a group of lads in there… we’ll see.”
Some fans noticed that Scarlett’s mother did not appear to be in attendance. And The Sun has suggested that the soap actress did not attend the event at all. A source told the publication: “Scarlett had her party at Barca Bar in Manchester last night. Her dad Ryan was there keeping an eye on things, but mum Tina was nowhere to be seen. Ryan paid for and organised it, but because things are still tense between them Tina gave it a miss – nobody wanted a showdown.” The Mirror has contacted Tina’s representatives for comment.
Ryan and Tina are believed to have a fractured relationship – with Ryan accusing Tina of smashing up his Range Rover with a baseball bat in 2022. They have both moved on to enjoy new romances long after their 2009 split. Ryan is now engaged to former The Only Way Is Essex star Lucy Mecklenburgh – who he has dated since 2017. Ryan and Lucy are proud parents to a son named Roman, born in 2020, and a daughter named Lilah, born in 2022.
While Tina has moved on to Adam Crofts – a business developer and trainer for personal training company Ultimate Performance – who she married in 2018. The couple have a son named Beau Lee Stephen, who was born in 2014. Tina has proudly declared her love for her husband via social media in the past – occasionally dousing him with affection for no reason at all. In January last year she proudly gushed online: “I love this incredible human so much, Mr Adam Crofts.”
She then added: “It’s not his birthday or our wedding anniversary. Just cos.” The couple were joined by both Beau and Scarlett to a recent trip to Universal Studios in the USA where they enjoyed rides in the sunshine. Sharing a family snap at the resort, Tina wrote on Instagram in August: “Gorgeous family day out at Universal.”
