The top pet-friendly getaways in the UK have been revealed by Airbnb, featuring great walking routes and attractions that also welcome your four-legged friends

The top pet-friendly getaway destinations for UK travellers have just been revealed.

Airbnb has revealed the spring travel trends for 2025, with many holidaymakers looking for the ideal spots to enjoy with their furry friend. Compared to last spring, searches for trips with pets have risen by 30 per cent, and Airbnb has identified the top trend destinations for pet-friendly travellers.

One location is the New Forest District, which features miles of open heathland, forest trails and pet friendly pubs. The New Forest District is home to more than 140 miles of tracks and footpaths, including woodland, open grassland and even coastline. According to the New Forest National Park Authority, there are an estimated 25,000 dog walks per day in the New Forest.

Many of the routes also feature pubs, most of which are dog-friendly too. The New Forest also features an abundance of wildlife, livestock and other walkers. One popular walk is The Solent Way, which is around 60 miles in total, however smaller sections can be enjoyed, taking visitors along the New Forest’s coastline.

There are also many attractions in the New Forest that allow dogs. For example, Exbury Gardens and Steam Railway is a great place to take your dogs, with over 22 miles of paths to explore, featuring pretty flowers and scenic nature. Well-behaved dogs can also take a ride on the railway. The attraction also has ‘Devoted to Dogs’ days that take place throughout the year, where dog owners can bring their dog along for the day for a discounted admission fee.

There is also the picturesque village of Buckler’s Hard, where dogs are welcomed on the Beaulieu river cruise, which offers amazing views over the Beaulieu River. The New Forest Heritage Centre, in Lyndhurst, which has a museum and gallery space, also welcomes dogs through its doors. Visitors can learn about the rich history of the New Forest and find out about the wide range of activities you can do in the New Forest.

One place to stay is Bluebell Cottage, which is located in quiet residential area, a short walk from the countryside and the village of Lyndhurst, which has numerous cafes, pubs, restaurants and independent shops. Another trending destination for dog owners is Balloch, in Scotland. Loch Lomond has several walking spots which explore the rich history of the area, including the Doon Hill walking route. Doon Hill is a circular walk that takes around two hours to complete and is considered the home of the fairies in Scotland. The trail is waymarked and contains one uphill section, so is relatively easy to walk. Along there route there are also stunning views and an abundance of nature.

The area is also home to many café and pubs that are dog-friendly. For example, the Dug Café is complete with a menu for four-legged friends. Cameron House Hotel is a luxury hotel that allows dogs to stay with you, including grand rooms and scenic views to experienced everything Loch Lomond has to offer. The hotel is also surrounded by fields, woods and mountains. The accommodation is also within walking distance of the West Highland Way.
