Tragedy has struck a family as Katie Hyde, 27, died suddenly in mysterious circumstances in her home after Christmas, with a fundraiser now set up to pay funeral costs for the mum-of-one
A “fantastic” mum has died in mysterious circumstances after being found dead in her home after Christmas.
Katie Hyde, 27, was found dead on Friday, December 27. The mum, from Spilsby, Lincolnshire, had suffered from epilepsy and experienced seizures but the cause of death remains unclear and will go to an inquest. Katie’s dad, Earl Hyde, has since paid tribute to his “wonderful daughter”.
He said she was: “A dedicated mum, a loving sister and a wonderful daughter. She was fun loving. She had so much fun with her sisters. She was a care worker as well, so she would take care of other people even when she was not well herself.”
Earl added Katie’s son, Robbie, was “her absolute world”. Katie, who grew up in Spilsby, Lincolnshire, attended the Great Steeping Primary School and the King Edward VI Academy in town. Her dad’s partner, Heather, has since said she “touched so many people’s lives in such a short time.”
Sharing Katie would “do anything for her little boy” when speaking to LincolnshireLive, Heather said: “When I first met Katie it was clear to me she had lived an interesting life and that she had learned a lot along the way. We both used to go for ice cream chats at East Keal, and take her to groups in Spilsby. We bonded over our own mental health struggles and anxiety.
“Even when she was struggling herself, she would always find time to support others, and took her role as a care assistant very seriously. She was certainly a one off. Always making people laugh and cheering them up.” A fundraiser has since been established to give cover funeral costs.
The fundraiser, which can be found here, has so far raised £1,610 of a proposed £3,500. Heather wrote: “Myself and her dad are taking care of her beloved son Robbie and doing everything humanly possible to support Robbie with the loss of his mum . To honour Katie’s memory we need to raise at least £3,500 for Katie’s funeral and any money left to go towards helping Robbie.
Any money left over from the fundraiser will be used to support Katie’s son. The fundraiser reads: “Missing our shining light. Please please donate whatever you can and share this fundraiser page far and wide, so we can say good bye to Katie. Thank you.” An update to the fundraiser posted yesterday has since thanked the generous donations made so far.
It reads: “Thank you so much for donating what you can and sharing the link. It means so much to Earl, Robbie and the whole family, especially reading messages from service users families Katie has helped in her work. And from friends she knew. In such a short life she has touched so many lives. With her kindness and being a good mum”
