Scottish DJ and well respected producer Jackmaster has died aged 38 after suffering a head injury, his ‘utterly heartbroken’ family has said in a statement on social media

DJ and producer Jackmaster agonised for two days in an Ibiza hospital before dying aged just 38 after suffering an ‘accidental head injury.’

The family of Jack Revill, better known by his stage name, revealed on Saturday in an emotional post on Instagram he had tragically passed away that morning at an undisclosed location.

Well-placed sources confirmed today he had lost his fight for life at Can Misses Hospital in the capital Ibiza Town after being rushed there two days earlier from another part of the island. One said: “He was admitted to the local health service-managed hospital on the morning of Thursday October 10 and spent two days in intensive care.”

Another added: “The incident that led to his death happened in another part of Ibiza. Police have been made aware and the matter judicialised which is standard practice in Spain whenever a death occurs even if that death turns out to be accidental.”

Police in Ibiza have yet to make any official comment following the statement by Jackmaster’s family. Glasgow-born Revill worked at the well-known record shop Rubadub in the city before going on to become the co-founder of the record label Numbers.

He gained popularity as a DJ in Glasgow clubs. He won Breakthrough DJ Award at DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards in 2010. He was also known for his 2014 residency at BBC Radio. He last played last month at HI Ibiza.

The statement posted by Jack’s family on his Instagram said: “It is with profound sorrow that we confirm the untimely passing of Jack Revill, known to many as Jackmaster. Jack tragically died in Ibiza on the morning of 12th October, following complications arising from an accidental head injury.

“His family—Kate, Sean, and Johnny — are utterly heartbroken. While deeply touched by the overwhelming support from friends, colleagues, and fans, the family kindly requests privacy as they navigate the immense grief of this devastating loss.

“Jack’s passion for music and his relentless drive to push creative boundaries through his work at the Numbers label and Rubadub Records in Glasgow, including discovering countless innovative artists, made him a beloved and pioneering figure in the electronic music community both in front of and behind the scenes.

“His talent for blending genres and delivering electrifying DJs sets and productions earned him the respect and admiration of peers and fans across the globe. His legacy will continue to inspire, and his impact on the world of dance music will remain indelible.”

Fellow DJ Ewan McVicar said after learning of his death: “The very best to do it and the reason I started all of this. “Thanks for inspiring a generation.” A fan wrote on social media: ‘RIP Jack!! You always a kind word, a smile and a mint tune. You’ll be missed.” Another heartbroken follower added, ‘Can’t believe this. Heartbroken. Thank you for all the amazing memories & inspiration Jack. This is just awful awful awful.”
