A travel expert has shared a handy tip that could help tourists cut the cost of their next holiday, and it takes just seconds to do. The clip has racked up more than 128,000 likes
A travel expert has spilled the beans on a quick trick for snagging cheaper flights, and it’s all about timing and browsing tactics.
TikTok user @casper.capital, known for dishing out penny-pinching advice, dropped a travel hack gem in one of his massively viewed clips. He suggests holidaymakers looking to snap up flight deals should target certain days for wallet-friendly fares, saying: “So, always book your flights for Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
“These are usually the cheapest days to book your flights.” But he didn’t stop there. Casper flagged up that sly booking sites have a habit of pushing up prices if they catch you looking more than once.
His tip-off? “But always use incognito when looking for [flight] tickets. Flight booking websites track your activity and if you check certain tickets often, they increase the prices because they know you’re going to buy them.”
He pinpoints midweek slots as prime times to pounce on lower rates due to lesser holiday traffic, though special dates could be exemptions, reports the Express. AirAdvisor noted that this savvy scheduling can slash ticket costs by as much as 17 per cent.
Hitting back at price hikes, Casper urges travellers to go undercover with incognito mode to stop sites from inflating fares based on repeat searches. And a cheeky bonus for the youth – he nudges younger jet-setters to scope out any student specials on offer.
He said: “Always check to see which airlines give student discounts. Sometimes these discounts can be 50 per cent off the regular price.” The travel expert didn’t drop names, but if you’re student age, you might want to pay attention because there’s a world of wallet-friendly deals on websites like StudentUniverse that compare the discounts for you.
With his video amassing over 128,000 likes, Casper’s followers were buzzing with enthusiasm as they shared their flight-booking savvy in the comments. One savvy traveller said: “I have a flight booked on a Saturday and it actually was cheap, it stayed the same price for a week and a half.”
Another keen flyer tipped off: “If you travel alone and you feel the aeroplane seems overbooked, do not choose a seat. There is a chance you could get a Business Class seat.”
