Tulisa ‘s love life has been a rollercoaster, with the I’m A Celebrity star revealing she is demisexual.
The N-Dubz star, 36, has been in a series of relationships, but has admitted she needs more than physical attraction to be able to sleep with someone. The singer went on to reveal that she believes she’s demisexual and has also been celibate for three years.
Tulisa revealed her news during a conversation with DJ Dean McCullough while chatting in the I’m A Celeb camp. Dean shared: “I actually do enjoy being single, I enjoy being on my own.” Weighing in on the chat, Corrie’s Alan admitted: “I’ve never done dating apps, I don’t even know what I’d do!”
Dean then looked at Tulisa and quipped: “We’ve done them all, haven’t we babes.” But Tulisa replied: “No I’ve only done Raya.
“I’m not really a dater, even though I’ve been on there, I’ve never gone on an actual date with anyone on there… I’m proper guarded.” She then revealed: “I feel like I’m demi-sexual, I need to have a really close emotional bond with someone.”
Dean said: “You need meaning babe,” with Tulisa confirming: “I need actual depth.” She then added: “I’m a slow, slow burner, I’ve been celibate for over three years.”
Dean quizzed Tulisa on her comments, asking what celibacy is like. She explained: “I’m not an overly sexualised person. For me, it’s all about the connection and the emotions that I feel with someone and then wanting to express them in that way.” She told him that the thought of going out and eating someone “genuinely makes me feel physically sick”. Tulisa joked: “This is my temple, you cannot enter!” The campmates burst out laughing, with Alan quipping: “It sounds like a Bushtucker Trial where you’ve gotta find a key to Tulisa’s temple!”
Tulisa has been involved in a string of high profile relationships, with the star remaining single in recent years. The star was involved with her N-Dubz bandmate Fazer, real name Richard Rawson, from 2010 to 2012, before she entered into a brief relationship with Shameless actor Jody Latham.
Tulisa was next reported to be in a relationship in 2014, when she dated millionaire Costas Panayiotou, who is also of Greek-Cypriot heritage. She was most recently linked with music producer David King, whom she spent time with at Cher’s home in Malibu.
Before Tulisa entered the camp, she spoke about being happy with single life. She told the Mirror: “I don’t think I’ll be quiet when I’m in there, because when I’m on, I’m on. In terms of, like, when there are people there, I’m not going to sit and be a misery guard. And when I’m socialising, I socialise to the fullest. So I would come across as like a total extrovert. It’s just when I have the choice, and I’m at home, for instance, I want to spend a small amount of my time socialising, and the rest I’ll spend on my own, but there is no choice in there. And when I do socialise, I socialise to the fullest, but I might need moments where I need to go off and have quiet time.”
