This was proven true at a café in Cumbria, where an anonymous act of kindness left both the owners and customers delighted. Without any fanfare or announcement, an unknown benefactor quietly footed the bill for everyone’s breakfast at the Market Café in Ulverston, covering everything from fry-ups to toast, tea and coffee.
The man’s generous gesture sparked a festive spirit during challenging times in 2022, as unsuspecting patrons enjoyed their meals on the house. The mystery man had been in the café enjoying his cuppa. As he prepared to leave and settle his bill, he stunned a staff member by offering to pay for all the food and drinks for every diner in the café, shelling out a total of £45.
He wasn’t seeking attention or recognition, but simply wanted to do something nice for the people in the café, who were oblivious to his kind act. Joy McCormack, who has been at the helm of the café for four years, was overwhelmed.
“It was a very heartwarming gesture for these times,” she said. “Everyone appreciated it and it really lifted everyone’s spirits.” She took to the café’s Facebook page to share about the generous stranger, writing: “Yesterday a wonderful customer quietly paid for everyone in the café – they all got a lovely surprise! Thanks to that kind man!”
