The Gypsy King Tyson Fury is ready to take on Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh this weekend as he attempts to regain is heavyweight belts – but his preparation hasn’t been totally smooth sailing

All may not be well behind the scenes as Tyson Fury bids to regain his world heavyweight boxing belts from Oleksandr Usyk at the weekend.

The Gypsy King is taking on the Ukrainian in an eagerly anticipated rematch in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, but it hasn’t all been smooth sailing behind the scenes. Usyk handed Fury his first defeat last time out, but the 6ft9 pugilist has vowed to inflict “pain, hurt and damage” in Riyadh.

Despite his chilling threat, things have appeared tense in the build-up. While Fury insists he remains fully focused – including not talking to wife Paris Fury for three months – a number of issues have cropped up in recent days.

Paris Fury ‘silence’

Fury sensationally said he hadn’t spoken with his wife in three months as he focused on his intense training camp. Speaking to Queensberry Promotions, he said: “I’ll end his career, this will be, you’ll never hear about Oleksandr Usyk again after this. It’s been a long camp, haven’t seen my wife and kids in three months. I haven’t spoken to [my wife] at all in three months. Not one word, sacrificed a lot. But it’ll all be worth it, 100 per cent.”

Following Fury’s comments, his wife spoke out, sharing a clip of her man’s interview on her official Instagram page. She captioned the story: “People don’t see the sacrifices made. I’ve let him solely concentrate on this fight. It seems like he’s been gone forever, especially with no contact. But if it’s what he needs.”

John Fury removed from corner

Dad John Fury has been a mainstay in his son’s corner in previous fights. However, the title contender has removed him from the proceedings for his latest bout. Instead, Fury will listen to head trainer SugarHill Steward and coach Andy Lee.

Fury Sr was heavily criticised for his actions in the first fight in May, including from his own brother. He has not commented on the fight since and has not been in Saudi Arabia this week. Head trainer SugarHill Steward has since confirmed Fury Sr will not be present this weekend.

“Tyson Fury is just ready right now, along with myself. He has always had a silly demeanour, and playing around but this is a different side of him. he is 100 per cent ready,” he said. Pushed on who will be in the corner, he added: “Just myself, Andy Lee and the cutman, pretty much that’s it.”

Molly-Mae Hague hits out at Tommy Fury

On the eve of the big fight, a new documentary trailer has shown Molly-Mae Hague fume at Tyson’s brother Tommy. The duo announced their shock split earlier this year after five years together.

Tommy is expected to be joining his brother in Saudi, but could have done without the Molly-Mae: Behind It All trailer dropping at this time. In it, she is heard saying about Tommy: “I am angry at him and I am very hurt – sometimes it really hits you that I’m in this alone.”

The first trailer from her Prime documentary series, which is released on January 17, has shown there will be a lot of revelations about the breakdown of Molly’s relationship with Tommy. Previously, the former Love Islanders had kept quiet on their breakup as they co-parent daughter Bambi, one.

In the documentary, in which Molly-Mae also opens up about the pair’s sex life, she confessed: “Suddenly, overnight, every part of my life changed.
