A woman decided to get petty revenge on a Vinted buyer who wouldn’t leave her alone, despite the fact she explained she couldn’t post the £3 item until the weekend
Vinted can be a great way to make extra cash and find bargains – but thanks to other users, it can sometimes feel like more effort than it’s worth.
One woman was left seething after a buyer sent her unreasonable demands after making a £3 purchase from her. She admitted that she’d wanted “a good clear out before Christmas,” but was left feeling fed up thanks to the buyer’s “extreme” behaviour.
She was “mainly [selling] clothes for a couple of quid,” explaining: “I work full time, so can’t just run off to the post office every time someone places an order, which I imagine is the same for most people using the app.”
On Mumsnet, the woman explained that someone bought a jumper from her on Wednesday night without messaging her beforehand to see when she would be able to post it. The buyer then sent a “message the next morning” asking her to “post the item ASAP”.
The original poster shared that she told the woman that she was busy working, saying: “Sorry, can’t post until the weekend as I’m working all week”, and she “left it at that”.
Of course, users of the Vinted app will know that sellers get five working days from purchase to send their item, and buyers can communicate with sellers beforehand to come to an agreement if they need the item sent as a matter of urgency.
But the buyer wasn’t satisfied and wanted her £3 item sent quickly, so she “chased” the seller in the morning and afternoon.
“Am I being unreasonable to think this is extreme? Over a £3 jumper? I had packaged the order and was planning to post it today (shop is open until 9 pm) but she p***ed me off so much I just cancelled it,” she fumed, getting petty revenge.
The woman even “sent her a message” to point out that she “had until the 19th to post the item,” and if she had wanted it urgently, maybe she “should have asked first” when she’d be able to post it “before buying” the item.
She ended the post by writing: “Thankfully, I don’t come across buyers like this very often, but my god, she’s done my nut in!”
In the comments, people agreed that it was a bit full-on for her to message so many times. One wrote: “You’re not wrong; you have a timescale to post things, and she should’ve messaged you in advance if she needed it sooner to see if it was possible.”
Another shared: “You are not being unreasonable, but you are selling to the Amazon Prime generation who expect same-day delivery. Can you put on your item description that you can only mail out at the weekend to manage expectations?”
Someone else penned: “It’s your prerogative, but I think you’ve shot yourself in the foot by cancelling – I would’ve just ignored her today, not replied and posted it when it was convenient for me as long as it was within the timeframe set by Vinted”.
The original poster responded, saying: “Possibly, but I just couldn’t be bothered with her constant chasing for the sake of £3. I also find that buyers who hound/chase then make up issues or complain once the item arrives.”
