Liam Payne’s girlfriend was with him in Argentina in the days before he tragically died after falling from a third-floor balcony at his hotel.
Kate Cassidy, 25, was pictured with the late One Direction star in his final Snapchat post, which he shared just minutes before he died on Wednesday. Liam filmed Kate as they ate breakfast together and said: “This is the breakfast table, just enjoying breakfast and coffee even though it’s 1pm.”
He revealed they had been staying at their friend’s home as Kate joked in the background they were “losers” for laying in. Liam also shared a photo of him and Kate as they posed for a mirror selfie together. Here, we look at Kate’s life and career, as well as her two-year-long relationship with Liam.
Life and career
Kate was born in New Jersey and attended Coastal Carolina University, graduating in 2021, before she moved to London. As an influencer and social media star, she regularly shares trips around the world with her 200,000 followers.
Some of her recent posts include a trip to Greece with Liam and images from a wedding they attended together in Paris. Over the summer, Kate also posted photos of trips to Lake Como and Milan in Italy, as well as Los Angeles, New York and Miami.
Kate’s relationship with Liam
Kate and Liam were first seen together at a Halloween party in London, dressed as Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson, in October 2022. The pair were pictured heading to Inca London in Mayfair and after that, Kate published a photo of their costumes on social media, making it clear she was ready to go Instagram-official.
This happened just six months after Liam and his former fiancée Maya Henry split in May 2022. Weeks later, more photos emerged of Liam and Kate going out on a date night. They also stepped out on the red carpet of the British Fashion Awards in London, confirming their relationship to the public for the first time.
And after their night out, Kate posted a photo from the event, which Liam commented on, writing: “Who is that lucky lucky dashing young man next to you…nah seriously you look fantastic I coulda just told you that as your on the sofa next to me but you know tech and phones n stuff.”
Kate also met Liam’s bandmates Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan after attending events with her boyfriend in support of the former One Direction stars. The couple briefly broke up in 2023 but then rekindled their relationship and remained together until his tragic death on Wednesday. Just days before the tragedy, they had attended Niall Horan’s concert and were filmed singing, dancing and kissing at Movistar Arena.
