As far as proposals go a British farmer stood in a muddy field with his cow isn’t the most glamorous of ways to pop the question but it’s caught the eye of TV presenter and farmer Jeremy Clarkson

Jeremy Clarkson’s premium beer company Hawkstone has made an incredibly generous offer to one lucky couple after sharing a hilarious picture of a farmer proposing to his partner

While arguably the most common way to propose involves jetting off to a beautiful location with a picturesque backdrop, every proposal is different and one farmer has used his livestock to help pop the question in a very unique way, and it’s gained some attention on social media.

On Wednesday, March 19 the team at Hawkstone shared the hilarious proposal post on Instagram, showing a farmer in his overalls standing with a cow which had the words “Alice, Marry me?” sprayed on its coat.

The post was captioned: “We back British farmers – so if Alice says “yes” we will give you both all the Beer and Cider to celebrate your wedding with! (And if she doesn’t we will send you a case to drown your sorrows).” The post has since had over 12,000 likes and almost 100 comments.

One user commented: “My kind of proposal”, while another penned: “What a great idea, fingers crossed it was a yes”, multiple people commented: “Hope she said yes” and one even jokingly wrote: “Is the cow asking or the owner?”

Remarkably, Alice saw the post and took to the comments section, replying: “Hello Hawkstone I’m Alice, thank you for the kind offer! This picture is from 2019… I said “yes” and we got married in 2021! We’d happily renew our vows if your offer still stands.” One person replied: “The suspense has been killing me! Thank god you said yes.”

Presenter Jeremy Clarkson recently announced he would be giving away kegs of beer and cider to other pubs if they reach out to the brand after teasing in a video message that he’s avoided “financial ruin” at his own pub.

Sat at the bar of his pub, Jeremy said in the video uploaded to Hawkstone’s account on the platform on Tuesday: “Right, welcome to the Farmer’s Dog. It’s a pub I’ve had for about six months now and I’ve worked out it is a brilliant way of turning £100 into about £94 using nothing but customers.”

Jeremy continued: “The only thing that’s saving me from financial ruin is the fact that we serve Hawkstone lager [and] cider. Now, if you’ve got a pub and if you want to see if this strategy works for you as well, get in touch with us at [our website] and if we like the sound of your pub – if it’s the kind of place we think we wanna be in – we’ll send you a free keg. 88 pints of Hawkstone lager or cider for nothing!”
