A creamy tomato soup recipe has been shared by the Love Island and Strictly star, and fans are in firm agreement that it’s delicious
Even though it’s almost spring, soup still remains a hugely popular lunch choice all year round. With so many flavours to choose from, it’s a very versatile option too.
And you really can’t go wrong with that classic favourite flavour, tomato. However, rather than reaching for the tin opener for your tomato fix, why not rustle up a fresh pot yourself?
Fans of a cosy tomato soup should look to Zara McDermott for inspo – she’s not just a Love Island and Strictly sensation, but also a whizz in the kitchen, as shown by her recipe shared last year.

Zara posted her creation on TikTok, dubbing it ‘hearty and warming’ and the perfect companion to a delicious grilled cheese sandwich, reports the Express. Her recipe promises simplicity, requiring you only to chop veggies, roast them to perfection, and then give everything a good whirl in the blender.
She kicks the indulgence up a notch with a splash of cream and crème fraiche for a richer taste, and a drizzle of cream upon serving to achieve that ‘restaurant quality’ vibe.
The reaction in the comments was very enthusiastic, with one person saying: “Love a good tomato soup, you seem like such a good cook.” Another raved: “I had this the other day it was elite.”
While a third simply said: “Looks delicious!”
Here’s what you’ll need to make about four servings of Zara’s creamy tomato soup.
Creamy tomato soup
Ingredients
- 1kg tomatoes
- Two red peppers
- Bulb of garlic
- Olive oil
- Seasonings of your choice – for example, basil, oregano and thyme
- Salt and pepper
- 200ml chicken stock
- One tbsp crème fraiche
- Two tbsp single cream, plus extra for drizzling
- Bunch of fresh parsley
Method
Firstly, get your oven preheated to 180C while you prep the veggies. Quarter the tomatoes, slice the red peppers and lop off the top of the garlic bulb.
Next, grab a baking tray and scatter your vegetables on it. Drizzle over some olive oil and sprinkle a teaspoon of each of your chosen seasonings. Season with salt and pepper, then give everything a thorough mix to ensure it’s all well coated.
Pop the tray in the oven and roast for about an hour, giving it a stir halfway through to prevent any scorching.
Once roasted, transfer the vegetables to a blender, adding in the stock, crème fraiche and cream. Whizz everything up until smooth, then ladle into bowls ready to serve.
Finish off with a swirl of extra cream, a sprinkling of fresh parsley and additional salt and pepper to taste.
