Volodymyr Zelensky used three words in his recent minerals deal statement to mend the rift between him and US President Donald Trump, according to body language expert Judi James

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky mineral deal statement strokes at Donald Trump’s ego by using three subtle words to push the deal through, a body language expert has shared.

Mr Zelensky penned a message shared to X/Twitter that hoped to mend the rift between the US and Ukraine following his disastrous meeting at the White House last week. The Ukrainian had travelled to Washington DC to sign a historic agreement to allow Americans to take rare earth minerals from the country but it was dashed following a spat between Mr Zelensky and Mr Trump amid claims he did not show how grateful he was.

“We do really value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence,” Mr Zelensky said on the social media platform. “And we remember the moment when things changed when President Trump provided Ukraine with Javelins.

“We are grateful for this. Our meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go the way it was supposed to be. It is regrettable that it happened this way. It is time to make things right.

“We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive. Regarding the agreement on minerals and security, Ukraine is ready to sign it in any time and in any convenient format. We see this agreement as a step toward greater security and solid security guarantees, and I truly hope it will work effectively.”

Body language expert said Mr Zelensky’s statement “strokes” Mr Trump’s ego and uses three subtle words to push through the minerals deal. Speaking to The Mirror, Judi James said: “This is very solid messaging that appears to have been composed to ensure there is no room for confusion or doubt.

“The format is effectively a list of concise sentences written in clear wording with no hint of word salad or lack of clarity. It appears to allow for no misunderstanding and gives the impression it has been composed after some careful watching of the Oval office scrap.

“It begins with the Trump technique of pointing out unified objectives. The idea of status and pecking order is clarified with the words ‘My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’ with a flattering personal ‘stroke’ in the reference to Trump’s ‘strong leadership’.

“There is the use of three words in the next section: Fast, final and first’ to set a tone of urgency and lasting solution. The claim that Zelensky is not grateful or respectful is dealt with in the ‘We really do value how much America has done’ line.

“He uses the word ‘regrettable’ about the meeting which is a neutral term to avoid any casting of blame. He offers to not just sign but to sign in ‘any time and any format’, ending in an ‘I truly hope…’ to suggest a genuine reaching out to Trump.”
