Spring has officially started but don’t get too cosy – Daylight Saving Time (DST) begins this Sunday, March 30. And that means you might lose an hour of precious sleep.

While we all relished that extra hour under the duvet last autumn, this time the clocks will leap forward, requiring you to tweak your routine accordingly (or just stay in bed for an hour and lose 60 minutes of your day). Fear not though – thanks to modern tech, this yearly changeover has become much more manageable.

In the past, you’d have to manually crank your clock forward an hour, but with today’s technology, there’s no need for a Sunday morning panic. Most smartphones, tablets, computers, and even some smart devices will automatically sync up with the new time – provided your software is bang up to date.

For most internet-connected devices like your phone, tablet, telly, or computer, the time shift will occur without you having to lift a finger. However, ensure your settings are correctly configured before Sunday morning rolls around.

If you own an oven or a classic digital clock, you might still need to manually adjust the time, but the majority of your tech should navigate the transition seamlessly. iPhone and iPad users should head to their device’s Settings app.

Tap General, then Date & Time, and flick on the “Set Automatically” option. Android enthusiasts, not to worry – just dive into your Settings, scout out Date & Time (you might find it under System), and switch on the “Automatic date & time” setting.

Getting this sorted before Sunday means you can chill out knowing your tech will be in sync with the new time. Remember to bask in that glorious extra daylight and tweak any other clocks that need it.
