Paul Hollywood reportedly begged producers to make his stunts in the new Compare The Market advert more daring. The Bake Off star’s request was politely declined, says an insider

Paul Hollywood could be gearing up for a new career as a stuntman.

The 58-year-old Great British Bake Off star reportedly took to his superhero role in the new Compare The Market TV advert so much that he demanded even more stunts. The advert – which is promoting the company’s 2-4-1 cinema deal – sees Paul fly through the air while dressed in Superman attire.

The blue-eyed baker is following in the footsteps of the likes of Nicole Kidman, Macaulay Culkin and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who have all previously starred in the comparison site’s adverts in the past.

According to a TV insider, the silver fox loved the experience of being hoisted into the air so much, that he wanted to do even more daring tricks. Sadly for Paul – who signed a six-figure deal to star in the comparison site’s adverts earlier this year – producers politely knocked him back for safety reasons.

A TV insider revealed what went on behind the scenes of the promotional video – which is set to be released on July 8. Speaking to the Sun, they said: “There was one stunt where he had to wear a harness – something which, understandably, he had never had to do before in his career as a baker.”

Describing the moment the celebrity chef asked to take the stunt even further, they added: “It saw him hoisted safely into the air on a crane as part of the stunt, and Paul enjoyed the thrill so much, he asked to be taken even higher.”

Unfortunately for Paul – who is currently filming the 15th series of his infamous baking competition – strict health and safety rules meant the production team were unwilling to give in to his demands. The source said: “It was a polite no from the production team and crew as safety is their number one priority, and the most dangerous parts of any scenes have to be carried out by experts.”

Paul’s deal with the meerkats comes following his most lucrative year yet. The Mirror exclusively revealed last month that the Channel 4 legend banked more than £14 million in 2023, making him one of the best-paid stars on TV.
