A biscuit lover was shocked to find their favourite jam-filled treat had no filling when they opened a packet recently – and the blunder has now gone viral online

Biscuit lovers have been left stunned after a snacker discovered there was no jam inside their Jammie Dodger.

Us Brits may be divided in our opinions about many things, but one thing the majority of us agree on is that there is nothing quite like sitting down with a cup of tea and some biscuits ready to dunk. One classic teatime treat is the jam-filled treat.

Since launching in 1960, Jammie Dodgers have remained a British staple. The raspberry or strawberry-filled centre and shortbread biscuit with a heart shape is hard to resist. But one fan of the beloved treats was left furious when there was no jam inside.

The error came when the company behind the beloved biscuits made an update to their production line by upgrading their jam recipe, all the while producing a batch of biscuits – resulting in one Jammie Dodger slipping through the net.

The annoyed Londoner recently took to X via his account @MichaeljonF and raked in over 1.6million views, commenting: “When you buy some @jammiedodgers from @Tesco for a lil treat and there is no jam in one.”

X users joked that “the jam dodged the biscuit” and “I’ve seen a few first world problems in my time, but this one, well, takes the biscuit”.

Another individual said: “Well it definately was a jammy dodger then coz it dodged the jam.” One other added: “I’ve seen a few first world problems in my time, but this one, well, takes the biscuit.”

MJ Fosker said: “I was really looking forward to enjoying a classic Jammie Dodger, which I’ve enjoyed as a sweet treat since I was a kid, but it seems my biscuit decided to play hide and seek with the jam! But I do think I’ll get over this…eventually.”

Andrew commented: “Without jam, is it just Dodger?” Someone else wrote: “The jam dodged the biscuit.”

One other individual said: “I got one too!” One other wrote: “I had the same with some I got for Sainsbury’s, I contacted the manufacturer about it and they sent me some apology vouchers.”

One other said they had experienced the same but with the blackcurrant flavour, adding: “No jam in my dodger! What am I going to do?”

The company behind the biscuits, Fox’s Burton’s Companies (FBC UK), reached out to the customer to apologise for the mishap. To make up for the ‘crumby’ discovery, Jammie Dodgers are set to send the customer a batch of jam-filled biscuits.

Russell Smith, Brand Lead at Jammie Dodgers, said: “We extend our deepest apologies to MJ for any upset that has come from his Jammie-less experience. This is a result of an unfortunate mishap on our production line as we have made improvements to our jam recipe, creating a new, tastier jam that now is even fruitier than before.

“We always strive to give customers the stickiest, jammiest splat in our shortcake sandwiches, because after all, what’s a Jammie Dodger without the jam? Just a dodger, and it seems this time, the jam has truly dodger-ed.”

The new and fruitier Raspberry range is currently rolling out in stores nationwide.
