The Lancôme fragrance has been praised by several shoppers, with one saying: “This is my second time buying this perfume. It lasts like a year for me”

Boots has slashed the prices of hundreds of beauty buys in its massive January sale, including a “delicious” designer fragrance. The high-street giant is offering a 50ml bottle of La Vie Est Belle Iris Absolu by Lancôme for better than half price – meaning you can get it for £47, instead of £100.

The feminine, vibrant floral scent begins with a fruity blend of blackcurrant, fig and orange blossom in the top note, which is combined with notes of orange blossom and jasmine in the heart. The base notes are iris, patchouli and a gourmand accord, adding sweetness.

Released in 2023, La Vie Est Belle Iris Absolu was created by iconic perfumers Ann Flipo and Dominique Ropion. Flipo is one of the noses behind YSL Libre, while Ropion has worked on Calvin Klein Euphoria and Thierry Mugler Alien, and plenty more.

The popular fragrance boasts an average rating of 4.7 out of five from more than 3,000 reviews on Boots’ website, reports Manchester Evening News. In one glowing statement, a delighted fan said: “In my opinion, it has a very strong warm scent, it goes very well with my skin and lasts a long time. You can tell it’s high quality. This is my second time buying this perfume. It lasts like a year for me.”

Another exclaimed: “I thought I loved the original La Vie Est Belle, but I love this one so much more. I started with the original when it first came out and it’s been my go-to. I get stopped and asked what I’m wearing whenever I do, and it just smells so good. This one, blind-tested, won over the original when I wore it. Original on one sleeve, this one on the other… all said, this one was better. I still love my original, but this is a different kind of scent altogether.”

Someone else penned: “Love the Iris. It’s so fresh and clean smelling. My daughters steal it all the time so it must be good. Projection is good, and I get compliments even at the end of the day.”

Continuing the praise, a fourth wrote: “This perfume is a delightful and different. When I was discovering this scent, I was looking for something outside of basic perfume scents (ie vanilla, coconut). This is none of those as you can see from the notes. I’ve never smelt such a delicious and sexy scent that finally has a different and unique scent. I absolutely love it.”

However, some shoppers found it too floral for their liking, with one saying: “It had more of a floral scent than I liked. Not a favorite. I’ll use it, but I like cleaner or fruity scents. It almost was too overpowering, in my opinion.”

Meanwhile, Thierry Mugler Alien – which is on sale for £56.95 at Debenhams – is also popular and a hit with fans of La Vie Est Belle. Another great scent for this season is Black Opium by YSL, now £80.75 for a 50ml bottle at LookFantastic, offering hints of patchouli, coffee, vanilla and liquorice.

Those on a budget might want to consider the Elizabeth Arden Splendor Eau De Parfum, now £14 for a 125ml bottle on Amazon. For the 50ml La Vie Est Belle Iris Absolu by Lancôme at £47 down from £100, visit here.
