The British man, 33, was diving at Epanomi Shipwreck attraction in Thessaloniki, when they got into trouble in rough seas over the weekend, it was reported

A Brit has drowned while diving at a shipwreck off the coast of Greece in rough seas.

The man is said to have got into difficulty while swimming at the Epanomi Shipwreck, a popular attraction in Thessaloniki. Local reports say other concerned swimmers raised the alarm over the weekend.

The 1st Port Department of Michaniona Prefecture of the Central Port Authority of Thessaloniki was informed, as a vehicle was sent to their rescue. Efforts by ambulance crews to save his life were unsuccessful and he was declared dead at the scene.

The man was taken to the Hippocrates Hospital. An autopsy was ordered by the Port Authority which is conducting an investigation.
