A disgruntled Brit tourist has slammed a popular EU airport for its ‘disgusting’ prices. While airports aren’t exactly known for their low costs, travel enthusiast Donny Knight was left reeling after trying to find some affordable pre-flight food.

After holidaying in Turkey, the content creator found himself peckish in Dalaman Airport, a hub that served more than 5.2 million passengers back in 2023, and has the capacity to deal with 17.5 million tourists annually. “This is the most expensive airport in the world,” he said in a recent TikTok video. “Look at the price… Rip-offs! That’s disgusting.”

The footage, which has garnered thousands of views and more than 150 likes at the time of writing, shows the menu of a KFC store in the airport. It lists a ‘Double Xtreme’ box, which features a Double Zinger Burger, two pieces of Hot Wings, four pieces of ‘Hot Shots’, along with a regular portion of French Fries and a drink, for a staggering €24.40. Two other smaller meals, the ‘Xtreme Box’ and the ‘Tornado Box’ were priced at €17.

“Ahh well, let’s look at McDonald’s,” Donny said, wandering over to a nearby counter. “Wow, you what?” The McDonald’s menu showed similar extortionate prices, with a McChicken Meal costing €17 and a Big Tasty Meal priced at €18.50.

“That’s a rip-off,” the tourist added. “Well everyone, Dalaman Airport is the most expensive airport in the world. It is a total rip-off. Jesus Christ, a McDonald’s for €23.”

Dozens of viewers flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts, with many agreeing the prices are over-inflated. “I always eat a decent meal prior to setting off to the airport, whichever airport I’m going to. I refuse to pay their prices,” one person wrote. Another agreed, commenting: “Was there last week and it was crowded but very few were buying food. Most know to bring their own as it is a total ripoff.”

A third branded the airport a ‘joke of a place’, adding: “I was in there last week and saw a bottle of Efes for €15.40!” while a fourth penned: “I ended up paying £6 for a bag of crisps.” However, others seemed less fazed by the high price point, arguing it’s worth splurging out when you’re away. “Love McDonald’s at Dalaman Airport, good burger to end the holiday.”
