A Brit has issued a warning to holidaymakers after encountering a massive problem at an airport on one of Spain’s most popular tourist islands, describing it as a ‘ghost town’

Brit tourists have been issued a stark warning about an airport on one of Spain’s most popular holiday islands.

TikToker @seb_tenerife, who now lives and works in Tenerife, took to the social media app to warn others after encountering a massive problem at one of the island’s two airports.

Seb’s recent video, filmed inside Tenerife South airport, showcased the eerily deserted terminal during the early hours. “I’m in Tenerife airport now, it’s about 4.30am and my flight’s at 5.30am,” he revealed.

Urging holidaymakers to come prepared if they have early morning flights, he warned: “If you are flying from the south airport, make sure you’ve either eaten before or brought your own food with you. Because it is like a ghost town. There is nothing open. All of it is shut.”

Seb then panned around the airport to show how all the shops had their shutters down. He added: “Or bring coins as there are quite a few vending machines that only take coins.”

His video evidently struck a chord, garnering responses from several travellers who had faced the same predicament. One commented: “Same with us in March… Duty free was closed too.”

Another said: “I made this same mistake in July. I genuinely thought duty free was open 24/7.” And a third disgruntled tourist commented: “We just flew back out there absolute joke of an airport and they expect to keep holidaymakers happy.”

Seb also previously warned his followers to be vigilant against scammers and pickpockets in Tenerife.

He identified a notorious hotspot on the island – Playa de las Americas, a beachfront resort, and the infamous Veronica’s strip nearby. He said: “Las Americas does seem to be the spot where it’s all happening, especially down Veronica’s […] So aye, just be careful, watch your belongings, and you’ll be absolutely sound.”
