New research has unveiled the top travel trends for 2025, with Brits planning to take three holidays and splash out more than in previous years

Brits are gearing up for a trio of getaways in 2025, with plans to explore two new countries and splash out more on their vacations than the previous year.

The latest holiday trends for the upcoming year include choosing destinations featured in beloved TV shows or revisiting nostalgic childhood spots. However, the main goal for most travellers is to set foot in places they’ve never been before.

In fact, 63% will look to swap a traditional European holiday destination for somewhere further afield, like Egypt, Tunisia or Turkey for a taste of lower-cost luxury.

When it comes to globetrotting ambitions, Gen Z and Millennials lead the pack, with 53% eager to check off as many countries as possible from their travel list, in stark contrast to just 17% of Boomers.

This insight comes from a study commissioned by airline easyJet and package holiday firm easyJet holidays, as part of their ‘The Great British Holiday Audit’.

Holly Rubenstein, journalist, travel podcast ‘The Travel Diaries’ creator, and co-author of the report, commented: “It’s clear that holidays and travel are now a non-negotiable for many households and discovering new and exciting places is firmly on the horizon for 2025.”

“Holidaymakers are determined to see more, experience more and share more not just on their social media feeds but together in real life,” she further remarked.

While the classic beach break remains the most popular holiday booking, a whopping 62% of people are planning to ‘holiday hop’ arriving in one location and leaving from another. Additionally, 30% are considering multigenerational holidays, ensuring there’s something for everyone in the family.

Interestingly, over two thirds of Gen Z and Millennials are tailoring their holidays around their favourite physical activities. A significant 38% of all those surveyed are opting for holidays where they can run, cycle, and hike.

Kenton Jarvis, CEO of easyJet, commented: “We are always responding to new trends to ensure we offer what our customers are looking for, with many of those uncovered in our new travel report also coming through in customer behaviour.

“Ultimately, we know how much people value their holidays and it is clear that they are considered not just a priority but essential to so many,” he added.

However Brits plan to spend their holidays, over half will spend 18 months perfecting their travel itineraries, research reveals. With AI becoming increasingly popular to help plan itineraries.

Garry Wilson, CEO of easyJet holidays, concluded: “Whether they want to fly and flop, discover a new city, travel solo or with extended family, we’re pleased to see the top 2025 trends, evidenced by our Great British Holiday Audit, mean we will continue to deliver for our customers in 2025 and beyond’.”
