Celine Dion was in total awe of the massive crowd that had gathered outside her hotel in Paris before she made her musical comeback on top of the Eiffel Tower at the Olympic Opening Ceremony

Celine Dion put on a fun-loving display as fans swarmed outside her hotel in Paris before she made a seriously epic comeback during the Olympic Opening Ceremony this evening.

The legendary singer, 56, made her first public performance since revealing she is living with stiff person syndrome. Celine closed the Olympics opening ceremony in Paris for the 2024 Olympics, with a performance from the first stage of the Eiffel Tower, singing Edith Piaf’s L’Hymne A L’Amour.

The My Heart Will Go On hitmaker dressed in a very glamorous beaded silver gown with a high neckline. She even appeared emotional as she crooned the song, with fans completely in awe of the hitmaker’s performance despite her recent tough health battle.

But before the hitmaker performed at the event, she looked completely taken aback by how her adoring fans had gathered outside of her hotel. Dressed casually in some white linen trousers and a blue shirt with a grey hoodie and a denim jacket, Celine looked comfy yet chic as she marvelled at her fans who had turned out in their masses.

The hitmaker, who was wearing some large sunglasses, held her mobile phone as she filmed the crowd with a massive surprised shock plastered across her face. Celine was clearly moved by the huge turn out, with her looking totally in awe. And Celine will likely have a similar reaction to how fans sweetly gushed over her Opening Ceremony performance after performing for the first time since her stiff person diagnosis.

Celine announced she had been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome in 2022. Stiff person syndrome, also referred to as SPS, is an autoimmune neurological disorder that causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms that come and go and can worsen over time. When asked about her participating in the ceremony, Mr Macron said at the time it would be “fantastic news” if she did, because Celine is “a great artist”. He added: “I would be immensely happy if she could be at this opening ceremony, like all our compatriots.”

Viewers reacted to Celine’s return to the stage this evening, with many taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to praise the beloved songstress. One person movingly wrote: “For years she thought she might never perform again. For years she watched her body fail and fight against itself, stealing her voice and the control of her muscles. For years she’s been waiting for this moment. Welcome home Céline.”

Another then said: “After everything she’s experienced, this is such a wonderful, beautiful thing to see. Celine Dion. An inspiration.” While a third person went on: “And I also want to shoutout (despite not being a fan of her music) Celine Dion’s comeback performance. Her performance was beautiful and engaging with a great rendition of Piaf’s ‘L’hymne à l’amour’ where her voice was firing on all cylinders on despite her health issues.”
