Rene is the late husband and was the manager of Dion . He died on January 14, 2016 after a battle with cancer. Hundreds of mourners attended the open-casket visitation for Rene at the Notre Dame Basilica ahead of his funeral. René managed the superstar’s career for many years. The two began working together professionally in 1980 when René was 38, and Dion was only 12. Their relationship reportedly became romantic when she was about 19, though they kept it private for several years.

They went on to get married in 1994 and later welcomed their three sons. René continued to manage his wife Dion until 2014, with him stepping down from the role after being diagnosed with cancer. He passed away two years later in 2016.

Dion, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988, continued her Las Vegas residency after her husband’s passing. Since then, she has released two albums, including Courage in 2019, and embarked on a tour.

In 2022, the renowned singer revealed that she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome (SPS), a rare neurological condition, leading her to take a break from her career. However, she made a return in 2023 with a performance at the Olympic Games in Paris.
