Enjoying a delicious pub meal is a staple activity for Brits and research has revealed the cheapest places to enjoy it

Indulging in tasty pub food is a cherished British tradition, particularly during the chillier winter season.

Whether it’s savouring a Sunday roast with relatives or heading out for dinner, pub fare is a sought-after choice for laid-back dining in the UK.

Recent insights have disclosed that 37% of Brits pop into their local pub bi-weekly to relish both food and beverages, although the cost can significantly fluctuate based on where you are.

With this in consideration, Alliance Online has scrutinised data to pinpoint the average expense of a pub meal for two across various areas, thus identifying the towns and cities offering the most economical pub grub.

Swansea has been recognised as the frontrunner, where research indicated that the Welsh city boasts an average charge of merely £17 for a pub meal for a couple.

Boasting 135 pubs, the seaside town offers abundant choices for both residents and visitors looking to delight in their favourite pub dishes without the hefty price tag found elsewhere in Britain.

Gloucester, Kingston upon Hull, and Coventry shared second place, each with an average outing costing £22 for two, while Southend on Sea and Leeds tied for third at a mere £24 for a pair.

Rachael Kiss from Alliance Online commented on the study: “It’s so important to support your local pub when you can and eating out is a great way to do so.

“Our data shows that you don’t need to break the bank to enjoy a homecooked pub lunch and it’s surprising to see the regions where locals can enjoy a pub meal at such a low price.”

“While it’s great to see so many places where more affordable meals are available, it’s important to understand that many of our local pubs are under increasing operational and financial pressures so even if it’s just a treat every once in a while, supporting your local goes a long way!”
