Mum-of-three Muna, who posts on TikTok under the name @my_styled_living, has shared her top tip for reviving old tough towels – and it costs as little as 3p per go

There’s nothing quite like snuggling into a warm, fluffy towel after a hot bath or shower.

But how can you maintain that luxurious softness at home? A cleaning guru has the solution. Over time, towels can become stale and rough to the touch – even if they’ve just been washed.

Many resort to the tumble dryer to restore their softness, but with the cost of living skyrocketing – and Christmas expenses on the horizon – it’s an increasingly costly option.

More people are opting to dry their laundry on heated rails or racks, aided by a dehumidifier, but this method often results in loss of the softness achieved from the dryer. Luckily, one interiors expert has shared her ingenious trick – and it costs as little as 3p per use.

Posting on TikTok under the handle @my_styled_living, mum-of-three Muna revealed her top tip for rejuvenating towels. Instead of using fabric softener in your washing machine, substitute it with white vinegar when you next wash your towels.

Add a dash of bicarbonate of soda to the drum and half your usual detergent, which will make your towels look brand new thanks to the added stain removers. The outcome is incredibly soft and fluffy towels that even the most sensitive skin will love.

Muna also has a great tip to eliminate any lingering vinegar odour from the towels, suggesting adding a few drops of essential oil to the vinegar before washing.

You can grab a 5 litre bottle of white vinegar for roughly £6.99 on Amazon, and since most of us already have baking soda at home, this hack could cost you as little as 3p per wash. But that’s not Muna’s only household tip.

You can also use essential oils to freshen up even the smelliest bins, with minimal effort. Just sprinkle a few drops on some cotton balls and leave them at the bottom of the bin to keep your home smelling lovely.

She also previously revealed her recipe for making ‘toilet bombs’ to help keep her bathroom sparkling. Muna combines one cup of bicarbonate of soda with 1⁄4 cup of citric acid, 1 tbsp of hydrogen peroxide and a few splashes of essential oil. Simply shape it and leave it to set for a few hours. To use, just throw into the toilet bowl, let it fizz and walk away.
