The well known high street greeting card brand, which has 163 branches has announced that two more of its UK stores will close with sales to take place at both locations.
Clintons, the well-known greeting card retailer with 163 branches across the UK, is set to shut down two of its stores, adding to the growing list of high street closures. The Sun has reported that the stores in Halifax, West Yorkshire, and Andover, Hampshire are due to permanently close their doors this April.
Shoppers in Halifax were tipped off about the impending closure when “everything must go” signs appeared in the store’s window, as per The Courier. Over in Andover, employees received the grim news before Christmas, with a spokesperson telling the Andover Advertiser: “We were told the shop will close in April, there are about eight people working here at the moment, including temporary staff.”

This follows the January closure of a Clintons Cards in Southend, which had been serving customers for two decades.
Founded in 1968, Clintons was once a staple on the UK high street, boasting over 1,000 stores at its height. However, the relentless surge of online shopping has led to a downturn in footfall and sales, resulting in the closure of numerous physical outlets.
In a twist of fate, March 2024 saw Clintons being acquired by Cardzone, marking the end of an era for the iconic card shop, reports the Express.
