Conor Maynard and his girlfriend, Kitty Bertrand, are embracing a “new chapter” in their lives after the singer claimed a paternity test confirmed he is not the father of Charlotte Chilton’s baby. Charlotte, 32, publicly stated last year that Conor was the father of her unborn child after a one-night stand, following years of heartbreaking miscarriages while undergoing IVF with her ex-wife.

She accused him of ghosting her after learning of the pregnancy and refusing to acknowledge baby Penelope as his own. However, last week, Conor shocked fans by announcing that a paternity test had disproven Charlotte’s claims.

Now, the singer appears to be moving forward, sharing a smiling Instagram post with his girlfriend Kitty in front of their new home. He captioned the image, “On to a new chapter…” while joking about editing the sky in the photo.

Despite Conor’s statement, sources close to Charlotte insist she still believes he is the father and has serious doubts about the test’s accuracy, as it was reportedly arranged through Conor’s legal team. “She is bitterly disappointed about the results and her legal team is looking into how to proceed to ensure Conor takes a second test,” a friend told The Sun. “It’s been an exhausting fight between them.”

They also alleged that Conor had avoided direct contact with Charlotte since her pregnancy announcement. “He refused to take her calls or respond to messages, handling everything through his lawyers. He couldn’t wait to tell the world about the paternity test once he got the results,” they added.

Charlotte was reportedly blindsided by Conor’s public announcement but is determined to focus on her daughter. Meanwhile, Conor’s representatives have defended the legitimacy of the test, telling MailOnline: “It is very difficult to understand how the location of the paternity test would have changed the results.

“This test was conducted by a registered nurse in the presence of Charlotte’s legal representative. The results have clearly drawn a line under the matter, and we can only hope Charlotte finds a way to move forward.” Charlotte has yet to respond directly but seemingly brushed off Conor’s claims by posting a sweet photo of baby Penelope on her Instagram Story, captioned: “Those eyelashes.”

The dispute has been ongoing since Charlotte’s initial claim in June, when she told OK! magazine that she had reached out to Conor about the birth but never received a response. “He knows [I’ve given birth]. I had real torment over whether to contact him when she was here or not. I figured I don’t want to speak to him, but he has a right to know,” she said.

Charlotte has also spoken openly about struggling with postnatal anxiety and how Penelope’s resemblance to her alleged father has been difficult to process. “There have been days where I’ve been in tears because I’m sitting here thinking, ‘I’ve got a daughter that looks f**king identical to you,’” she admitted.

Despite the controversy, she maintains that she would never prevent Penelope from knowing Conor if he chose to be involved. “If she wants to walk away from him, that’s fine, but she needs to make that decision for herself when she’s older,” she said. Charlotte has previously accused Conor of trying to silence her, saying: “She [Penelope] is not a dirty secret and I won’t be silenced.”

Conor, who recently opened up about struggling with anxiety, shared in December that he had been considering medication to cope with his mental health. Shortly after, Charlotte appeared to take a subtle swipe at him by posting a photo of her own antidepressants, writing: “100mg for the last year, going strong.”

Addressing the emotional toll of the situation, Charlotte admitted: “It’s made me feel worthless, and it took a lot to build myself back up. He’s lost me money too – I was asked to do projects and brand deals, but I didn’t have it in me. I’m also paying for therapy -another added cost.”

Charlotte first rose to fame as a contestant on The Traitors season two, where she was introduced to Conor by show winner Harry Clark. Harry, who is currently dating Conor’s sister Anna Maynard, was reportedly trying to remain neutral amid the ongoing dispute.

For now, it appears both Conor and Charlotte are standing firm in their positions, with no clear resolution in sight. The Mirror has reached out to both Conor and Charlotte’s respective representatives for comment on this story.
