A mum has turned a storage cupboard under her staircase into a sweet playroom for her kids. Parents have been wowed over how good the space looks and plan to follow in her footsteps
A mum has wowed other parents after turning a small cupboard under her stairs until the ultimate playroom for her children.
It can sometimes to be difficult figuring out what to put where in your house – and often we need a lot of space to put our belongings. Many of us have that one drawer or cupboard that is the dumping ground for all things that don’t really fit anywhere. Plus, it is even harder for parents who have to find room for clothes, toys, items needed for school, baby changing tables and accessories, and more.
But one mum, Nicole Elliott, has proven that a space can suit both your storage needs and utilising a space as an extra room in your home. The mum-of-three has always wanted to create a playroom for her children, but did not think she had the room. Plus renovations can often be expensive.
Sharing a video clip of her cupboard transformation, the mum said: “Making big memories in tiny ways. When you don’t have a lot of space, especially for a playroom, sometimes you’ve got to think outside the box and be fearless.”
The room previously had white walls and a wooden floor and looked like a space where you might store clothing, or your Christmas decorations. To make it much more appealing, the mum put a playmat down in the cupboard, a cosy kids chair and small table, alphabet letters on the wall, a small book shelf, toys, a clock, as well a picture of a moon and stars from Amazon that glow in the dark.
Nicole, who boasts over 21,000 followers on her Instagram account @havefunandplay, also added a blackboard on the wall, and had a little door carved into the side of the wall to offer easy access. The cupboard has transformed for the better – and people cannot get over how good it looks.
Hundreds rushed to comment on the post. “This is amazing,” commented one. Another said: “You absolutely killed it. Love the constellations and the house on the inside. Seriously such a fun space.”
One other said: “Oh my god, I love that! My girl would never come out!” “Wow that is really well done,” agreed another. Another said: “This is so clever.”
Following in the mum’s footsteps, another said: “We turned our under the closet stairs into a playroom! Best thing we ever did.” “I was thinking of doing the same,” added another.
One other shared: “My mom did this for my son under her stairs. He is 18 now… and we just rediscovered it helping her get Christmas decor out during the holidays. He hadn’t been in there since he was like 8. He had tears streaming down his face.”
