A DoorDash customer has shared the unnerving message he received telling him his order had been refunded – the man said his order seemed really normal before he received the message

A DoorDash customer was left unnerved after receiving a mysterious refund from the delivery service.

Matty, from Los Angeles, had placed what seemed to be a standard order. Yet, surprisingly, DoorDash stepped in and initiated the refund, without any request from him – as he hadn’t spotted anything amiss with his order. Left puzzled by the decision to refund his order, Matty has taken to X and is trying to discover why it was cancelled. He shared online: “My dasher delivered my food and then apparently sent me something so obscene they refunded me.”

An attached image showed part of the cancellation message. The notification from DoorDash stated: “To shield you from inappropriate content from your Dasher, we’ve cancelled this order. We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused.”

Although puzzled by the abrupt cancellation, Matty decided not to consume the meal, opting on the side of caution. He commented: “Dude seemed really normal and friendly so I feel like this was an error. Food was completely safety sealed by the restaurant but I didn’t eat it. You tip when you place the order and I always tip.”

The internet is now speculating on why the delivery was cancelled. One social media user couldn’t help but remark: “The curiosity would kill me.”

Delivery drivers joined the debate suggesting the root of the problem might’ve been a dodgy snap of the food. One shared their own cringe-worthy yet funny tale: “I once snapped a photo as a dog was in the window watching..as I clicked the photo, he turned and left and it was a shot of his backside. I guess THAT wasn’t vulgar lol… the guy buying the food laughed and said he still had his appetite. Yes, I could’ve retaken the photo. Nope.”

Others mused that the mix-up with the picture provided to DoorDash was to blame. One said: “I think he accidentally uploaded a NSFW photo rather than the photo of your food being delivered.”

DoorDash has been contacted for comment.
