Emily Atack took to social media to pay tribute to her late Grandma Doris after family and friends attended the funeral of Emily’s ‘magnificent grandma’
Emily Atack shared an emotional tribute to her Grandma Doris after laying her to rest.
The actress, 35, took to Instagram to share her sorrow at the matriarch’s death. She uploaded a number of throwback images to go alongside the tearjerking comment. The first image showed Doris as a younger woman, before the second showed her holding a baby – presumably Emily.
She followed it up with an image of the pair recently, with Doris beaming at her granddaughter. And the fourth showed Emily wearing a ring, thought to be her grandma’s. Emily then shared the touching words of Leo Marks in his poem titled The Life That I Have.
Her caption on the post read: “Yesterday we said our final goodbyes to my magnificent Grandma Doris. Grandma, you LOVED a party. Your beauty, humour, energy and glamour will forever beam from every glitter ball I see for the rest of my life. I am so proud to be your granddaughter.”
She ended: “What a woman, what a life. The moment you met Barney will stay in my heart forever. I’ll miss you so much.”
Her words were met with condolence by her friends and followers. Among those leaving a comment was Eamonn Holmes who simply put three praying hands emojis. Christine Lampard also penned: “So sorry Emily x.”
Another of her followers added: “It truly was a wonderful day , to celebrate how she would have wanted – pleasure to be there xxx”
Emily also shared further throwback snaps on her Instagram Stories.
The former Inbetweeners star recently became a mum for the first time. In November, she shared a rare photo of her son Barney and showed how much he has grown. She welcomed her baby boy in June with Alistair Garner, her scientist boyfriend.
She candidly spoke about a scary moment during her pregnancy when she had a haemorrhage and started losing blood. Emily said: “I saw blood in the toilet and I was like, ‘oh my god, I’m miscarrying’ – it was just coming out of me and I thought that’s it, biggest fear realised, I’m having a miscarriage.”
Speaking to Jamie Laing on his Great Company podcast, the actress shared: “I had a scan and he [the doctor] said ‘the baby’s fine, you’ve had a haemorrhage, a hematoma but the baby’s ok’. I couldn’t believe it, I thought there’s no way – I thought it was all over and I thought having to tell everybody, you feel like you’re letting them all down, it’s really awful.”
She continued: “I don’t want to upset anyone who’s been through baby loss, miscarriage but it’s the most horrific thing ever. And a lot of that pain comes from feeling like you’re going to have to let everybody down, because you’ve told them you’re going to have this baby and it’s going to be wonderful and then you’re having to take that away. The pressure is ridiculous.”
