Erling Haaland ended his goal drought in Manchester City’s 2-0 victory against Leicester at the King Power Stadium and let his excitement get the better of him in his post-match interview

Erling Haaland had just one thing to say as Manchester City finally ended their away day hoodoo with a win over struggling Leciester City – “S*** happens”.

The Premier League champions got back to winning ways against Leicester on Sunday – Savinho and Haaland scoring. And the striker let a swearword slip out when asked about City’s crisis.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I think it’s important to look ahead and s*** happens. That’s something. Things happen and we have to keep going, we have to stay positive and focus on the right things.”

Asked if he was relieved to finally find the back of the net, the Norwegian added: “Yeah, it’s always a relief to score and that was an important goal to go 2-0 up.

“Leicester did a really good game and they’ve been playing really well under the new coach so we knew it was going to be difficult. Every game is difficult and it’s about getting the game towards your, I don’t know the word in English only in Norwegian so you can translate, favor [meaning favour]. Yeah, that’s what you need to do.”

Asked if City can use the result to add confidence, Haaland replied: “Yeah of course. And it’s been a difficult time as I said. Now it’s New Year so don’t think too much about football because it’s actually five or six days until the next game, maybe seven. I think it’s the longest time in a pretty long period and now we can rest a little bit and go again on the fourth.”

Haaland’s faux-pas came just momets after he had shoved City boss Pep Guardiola towards the away fans as they celebrated Sunday’s win in the East Midlands. It was certainly a much-needed win for City.

It leaves them fifth in the Premier League table and four points behind Chelsea, who take on Ipswich at Portman Road on Monday evening.
